A road surface image dataset with detailed annotations for driving assistance applications.

ABSTRACT: The preview of the road surface states is essential for improving the safety and the ride comfort of autonomous vehicles. The created dataset in this data article consists of 370151 road surface images captured under a wide range of road and weather conditions in China. The original pictures are acquired with a vehicle-mounted camera and then the patches containing only the road surface area are cropped. The friction level, material, and unevenness properties of each road image are annotated in detail. This large-scale dataset is useful for developing vision-based road sensing modules to improve the performance of the driving assistance systems. Also, deep-learning experts can regard this dataset as a comparing benchmark for their algorithms. The dataset is available at [1].

Project description:Road surface monitoring plays a vital role in ensuring safety and comfort for the various road users, from pedestrians to drivers. Furthermore, this information is useful for the maintenance of the roads. The road condition deteriorates due to volatile weather. Thus the main objective of the proposed paper is to create an image dataset of the road surface for two seasons, i.e. summer and rainy. Accordingly, we created road surface images for different roads such as paved and unpaved roads. These folders consist of two subfolders for Rainy and Summer potholes. The dataset consists of 8484 images and 10 videos. This dataset is highly useful for machine learning experts working in the field of automatic vehicle controlling and road surface monitoring.

Road surface semantic segmentation for autonomous driving.

Project description:Although semantic segmentation is widely employed in autonomous driving, its performance in segmenting road surfaces falls short in complex traffic environments. This study proposes a frequency-based semantic segmentation with a transformer (FSSFormer) based on the sensitivity of semantic segmentation to frequency information. Specifically, we propose a weight-sharing factorized attention to select important frequency features that can improve the segmentation performance of overlapping targets. Moreover, to address boundary information loss, we used a cross-attention method combining spatial and frequency features to obtain further detailed pixel information. To improve the segmentation accuracy in complex road scenarios, we adopted a parallel-gated feedforward network segmentation method to encode the position information. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the mIoU of FSSFormer increased by 2% compared with existing segmentation methods on the Cityscapes dataset.

Cross-platform dataset of multiplex fluorescent cellular object image annotations.

Project description:Defining cellular and subcellular structures in images, referred to as cell segmentation, is an outstanding obstacle to scalable single-cell analysis of multiplex imaging data. While advances in machine learning-based segmentation have led to potentially robust solutions, such algorithms typically rely on large amounts of example annotations, known as training data. Datasets consisting of annotations which are thoroughly assessed for quality are rarely released to the public. As a result, there is a lack of widely available, annotated data suitable for benchmarking and algorithm development. To address this unmet need, we release 105,774 primarily oncological cellular annotations concentrating on tumor and immune cells using over 40 antibody markers spanning three fluorescent imaging platforms, over a dozen tissue types and across various cellular morphologies. We use readily available annotation techniques to provide a modifiable community data set with the goal of advancing cellular segmentation for the greater imaging community.

Project description:Dry fruits are convenient and nutritious snacks that can provide numerous health benefits. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fibres, which can help improve overall health, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce the risk of heart disease. Due to their health benefits, dry fruits are an essential part of a healthy diet. In addition to health advantage, dry fruits have high commercial worth. The value of the global dry fruit market is estimated to be USD 6.2 billion in 2021 and USD 7.7 billion by 2028. The appearance of dry fruits is utilized for assessing their quality to a great extent, requiring neat, appropriately tagged, and high-quality images. Hence, this dataset is a valuable resource for the classification and recognition of dry fruits. With over 11500+ high-quality processed images representing 12 distinct classes, this dataset is a comprehensive collection of different varieties of dry fruits. The four dry fruits included in this dataset are Almonds, Cashew Nuts, Raisins, and Dried Figs (Anjeer), along with three subtypes of each. This makes it a total of 12 distinct classes of dry fruits, each with its unique features, shape, and size. The dataset will be useful for building machine learning models that can classify and recognize different types of dry fruits under different conditions, and can also be beneficial for dry fruit research, education, and medicinal purposes. Due to their nutritional value and health advantages, dry fruits have been consumed for a very long time. One of the best strategies to improve general health is to include dry fruits in the diet.

RDD2020: An annotated image dataset for automatic road damage detection using deep learning.

Project description:This data article provides details for the RDD2020 dataset comprising 26,336 road images from India, Japan, and the Czech Republic with more than 31,000 instances of road damage. The dataset captures four types of road damage: longitudinal cracks, transverse cracks, alligator cracks, and potholes; and is intended for developing deep learning-based methods to detect and classify road damage automatically. The images in RDD2020 were captured using vehicle-mounted smartphones, making it useful for municipalities and road agencies to develop methods for low-cost monitoring of road pavement surface conditions. Further, the machine learning researchers can use the datasets for benchmarking the performance of different algorithms for solving other problems of the same type (image classification, object detection, etc.). Hyperspectral placenta dataset: Hyperspectral image acquisition, annotations, and processing of biological tissues in microsurgical training.

Project description:The dataset consists of 101 hyperspectral images of four human placentas and six hyperspectral images of contrast dyes (i.e., indocyanine green and red and blue food colorant) that were captured in the range 515-900 nm, step = 5 nm. The hyperspectral images were manually annotated, delineating the key anatomical structures: arteries, veins, stroma, and the umbilical cord. Standard reference materials were used for flat-field correction. The dataset is instrumental for advancing machine-learning algorithms and automated classification of anatomical structures, particularly the classification of superficial and deep vessels and transparent tissue layers.

FruitNet: Indian fruits image dataset with quality for machine learning applications.

Project description:Fast and precise fruit classification or recognition as per quality parameter is the unmet need of agriculture business. This is an open research problem, which always attracts researchers. Machine learning and deep learning techniques have shown very promising results for the classification and object detection problems. Neat and clean dataset is the elementary requirement to build accurate and robust machine learning models for the real-time environment. With this objective we have created an image dataset of Indian fruits with quality parameter which are highly consumed or exported. Accordingly, we have considered six fruits namely apple, banana, guava, lime, orange, and pomegranate to create a dataset. The dataset is divided into three folders (1) Good quality fruits (2) Bad quality fruits, and (3) Mixed quality fruits each consists of six fruits subfolders. Total 19,500+ images in the processed format are available in the dataset. We strongly believe that the proposed dataset is very helpful for training, testing and validation of fruit classification or reorganization machine leaning model.

A large-scale solar dynamics observatory image dataset for computer vision applications.

Project description:The National Aeronautics Space Agency (NASA) Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission has given us unprecedented insight into the Sun's activity. By capturing approximately 70,000 images a day, this mission has created one of the richest and biggest repositories of solar image data available to mankind. With such massive amounts of information, researchers have been able to produce great advances in detecting solar events. In this resource, we compile SDO solar data into a single repository in order to provide the computer vision community with a standardized and curated large-scale dataset of several hundred thousand solar events found on high resolution solar images. This publicly available resource, along with the generation source code, will accelerate computer vision research on NASA's solar image data by reducing the amount of time spent performing data acquisition and curation from the multiple sources we have compiled. By improving the quality of the data with thorough curation, we anticipate a wider adoption and interest from the computer vision to the solar physics community.

Residential wearable RSSI and accelerometer measurements with detailed location annotations.

Project description:This repository offers smart-home wearable accelerometer and Radio Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) data acquired : 1) with low-cost hardware; 2) with high-resolution location annotations; 3) from four UK homes. The data are intended to evaluate RSSI-based indoor localisation methods with activity measurements provided from a user-worn wearable device. A wrist worn accelerometer records activity signatures which are relayed to a number of receiving Access Points (AP) placed throughout the building. Upon reception of a packet, each AP measures the RSSI of the received radio signal and timestamps the accelerometer measurements. Location labels are recorded automatically using a small camera which registers fiducial floor tags as the participant carries out their normal routines in a natural way. Approximately 14 h of annotated wearable measurements are provided. A scripted fingerprint measurement is provided along with several unscripted natural living recordings, where the participant carried out a number of daily household activities which are annotated, where possible, throughout. Codes are provided to access the data and to replicate the ground-truthing procedure.

Project description:Dataset - an essential aspect and the requirement for any of the machine learning project. Collection/creation of dataset in the agriculture domain is highly challenging task because the domain itself is uncertain. Main objective of the present paper is to create an image dataset of pomegranate fruits of different grades. Accordingly, we have considered 'Ruby' cultivar of pomegranate and sincerely constructed the dataset. Fruits belonging to three grades are considered. The images for each fruit are covered from all the three angles. The dataset created also contains the weights of the fruits. The dataset consists of 12 folders named after their effective quality grades. The usage of this dataset is already proved in the works carried out by the authors in their previous studies. This dataset is highly helpful for the data science engineer / machine learning programmer or machine learning expert working in the field of precision agriculture.
