Herein, we report two novel multidentate luminogen proligands bis(3,5-diiodosalicylidene) carbohydrazone (H<sub>4</sub>L<sup>1</sup>) and bis(3,5-diiodosalicylidene) thiocarbohydrazone (H<sub>4</sub>L<sup>2</sup>), which are suitable candidates for biomedical applications.
