Glycine receptors (GlyRs) are pentameric ion channels that mediate fast inhibitory neurotransmission. GlyRs are found in the central nervous system including the spinal cord, brain stem, and cerebellum, as well as in the retina, sperm, macrophages, hippocampus, cochlea, and liver.
