The neurotoxins methamphetamine (METH) and 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP<sup>+</sup>) damage catecholamine neurons. Although sharing the same mechanism to enter within these neurons, METH neurotoxicity mostly depends on oxidative species, while MPP<sup>+</sup> toxicity depends on the inhibition of mitochondrial activity.
