Project description:In the title compound, [Ba(C(14)H(20)O(5))(2)][Co(NCS)(4)], the Ba(II) and Co(II) ions are situated on twofold rotational axes, so asymmetric unit contains half each of the complex cations and anions. The Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms [Co-N 1.83 (2), 1.95 (3) Å] in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Ba(II) ion is coordinated by ten O atoms [Ba-O 2.766 (19)-2.859 (19) Å] from two benzo-15-crown-5 ligands in a sandwich-like configuration.

Project description:The title complex, [Na(C(18)H(22)O(5))(H(2)O)](2)[Co(NCS)(4)], consists of two aqua-(2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5)sodium complex cations and one [Co(NCS)(4)](2-) complex anion, which has crystallographic symmetry. In the anion, the Co(II) centre is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the complex cations, the Na(I) centre is coordinated by five O atoms of the 2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5 ligand and one water O atom. The complex mol-ecules form a two-dimensional network via weak O-H⋯S inter-actions between adjacent cations and anions.

Project description:The title compound, [Sr(C(14)H(20)O(5))(2)](I(3))(2), obtained by slow evaporation of an ethanol/dichloro-methane solution (1:1) of SrCl(2), benzo-15-crown-5 and I(2), is built of sandwich-like [Sr(benzo-15-crown-5)(2)](2+) cations and isolated linear I(3) (-) anions which are arranged in alternating layers parallel to (010). The triiodide anions are located in general positions, whereas the cations are located on centres of inversion.

The Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by the O and N atoms of two trans arranged anionic bidentate hydrazone ligands forming the equatorial plane and by the N atoms of two pyridine mol-ecules at the axial positions. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into columns parallel to the b axis.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[BaCu(2)(C(9)H(4)NO(5))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Ba(2+) cation is deca-coordinate, ligated by four aqua ligands and four [Cu(C(9)H(4)O(5)N)(C(3)H(4)N(2))] 'complex ligands'. The Cu(II)-containing complex-ligands are bridged by the Ba(2+) cations, resulting in a one-dimensional polymeric chain structure. The crystal structure is maintained via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. There is one disordered solvent water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit, with occupancies of 0.44 (2) and 0.56 (2).

Synthesis, crystal structure and properties of bis(isoselenocyanato-κN)tetrakis(pyridine-κN)nickel(II)

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, discrete centrosymmetric complexes are observed, in which the Ni cations are octahedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded selenocyanate anions and four pyridine coligands. The reaction of nickel chloride hexahydrate with potassium selenocyanate and pyridine in water leads to the formation of crystals of the title complex, [Ni(NCSe)2(C5H5N)4], which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Its crystal structure consists of discrete complexes, located on centers of inversion, in which the Ni cations are sixfold coordinated by two terminal N-bonded selenocyanate anions and four pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octahedral coordination. In the crystal, the complexes are connected by weak C—H⋯Se interactions. PXRD investigations revealed that a pure crystalline phase has formed. In the IR and Raman spectra, the C—N stretching vibrations are observed at 2083 and 2079 cm−1, respectively, in agreement with the presence of only terminally bonded anionic ligands. Upon heating, one well-resolved mass loss is observed, in which two of the four pyridine ligands are removed, leading to a compound with the composition Ni(NCSe)2(C5H5N)2. In this compound, the C—N stretching vibration is shifted to 2108 cm−1 (Raman) and 2115 cm−1 (IR), indicating the presence of μ-1,3-bridging anionic ligands. In its PXRD pattern, very broad reflections are observed, indicating for poor crystallinity and/or very small particle size. This crystalline phase is not isotypic to its Co and Fe analogs.
