Di-aqua-bis-(4-ferrocenyl-1,1,1-tri-fluoro-4-oxobutan-2-olato)cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CoFe₂(C₅H₅)₂(C₉H₅F₃O₂)₂(H₂O)₂], the central Co atom has an octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by two chelating tri-fluoro-methyl-β-diketone ferrocene ligands and two aqua ligands, with the latter in a cis disposition. The Cp rings in both ferrocene groupings are close to eclipsed. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into [100] chains.

Project description:Nowadays, studies are carried out on the design and synthesis of new catalysts for olefin oligomerization and polymerization, which would contain non-toxic metals and at the same time show high catalytic activities. Complex compounds of transition metal ions such as Fe(II), Cr(III) and Zr(II) containing pyridine or quinoline as ligands show at least moderate catalytic activity in ethylene and propylene polymerizations. To investigate the catalytic activity of the complex containing pyridine ligands and quinoline derivatives, here we have synthesized the crystals of new bis(5-chloroquinolin-8-olato)-bis(pyridine)-cobalt(II) solvate. The synthesized cobalt(II) complex compound was tested in reactions of 2-chloro-2-propen-1-ol and norbornene oligomerizations. Our studies showed that bis(5-chloroquinolin-8-olato)-bis(pyridine)-cobalt(II) after activation by MMAO-12 catalyzes the formation of oligomers in nitrogen atmosphere, under atmospheric pressure and at room temperature. Bis(5-chloroquinolin-8-olato)-bis(pyridine)-cobalt(II) possesses moderate catalytic activity in the formation of norbornene oligomers process and low catalytic activity in 2-chloro-2-propen-1-ol oligomerization.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(17)H(13)N(2)O(2))(2)(C(2)H(5)OH)(2)], is a Co(II) complex with two 4-benzoyl-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-olate (BMPP) ligands and two coordinating ethanol mol-ecules. In the asymmetric unit, there are two half mol-ecules, with the Co(II) atoms located on inversion centres. The two cobalt complexes have slightly different geometries and in one, the ethyl group of the ethanol is disordered over two sets of sites [occupancy ratio 0.757 (7):0.243 (7)]. Each BMPP ligand is deprotonated with the negative charge delocalized. The hy-droxy group of each ethanol mol-ecule forms hydrogen bonds with a pyrazole N atom in an adjacent BMPP ligand. Weaker C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional structure.

Structure of tri-aqua-tris-(1,1,1-tri-fluoro-4-oxo-pentan-2-olato)cerium(III) as a possible fluorescent compound.

Project description:Luminescence due to the d-f transition of Ce3+ is quite rare in metal-organic complexes where concentrate quenching frequently occurs. One of the possible ways to avoid this is to design an architecture with elongated metal-metal distances. In the structure of the title complex, tri-aqua-tris-(1,1,1-tri-fluoro-4-oxo-pentan-2-olato-κ2O,O')cerium(III), [Ce(C5H4F3O2)3(H2O)3], the CeIII complex is linked to neighbouring ones by hydrogen bonding. Within the complex, the CeIII atom is coordinated by nine O atoms from three 1,1,1-tri-fluoro-4-oxo-pentan-2-olate (tfa) anions as bidentate ligands and three water mol-ecules as monodentate ligands. Thus, the coordination number of CeIII atom is nine in a monocapped square-anti-prismatic polyhedron. The F atoms of all three independent CF3 groups in tfa are disordered over two positions with occupancy ratios of about 0.8:0.2. The inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between the ligands involve tfa-water inter-actions along the [110] and [1-10] directions, generating an overall two-dimensional layered network structure. The presence of the F atoms in the tfa anion is responsible for an increased inter-molecular metal-metal distance compared to that in the analogous acetyl-acetonate (acac) derivatives. Fluorescence from Ce3+ is, however, not observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(12)N(4)O(3))(2)](NO(3))(2)·2H(2)O, consists of a discrete cationic [Co(PLSC)(2)](2+) complex unit [PLSC is 4-(2-carbamoylhydrazin-1-yl-idene)-5-hydroxy-methyl-2-methyl-pyridinium-3-ol-ato], two NO(3) (-) and two water mol-ecules. The two tridentate PLSC ligands of the cation are zwitterions related to each other by a non-crystallographic C(2) axis. The Co(II) ion is in a disorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The crystal structure is composed of alternating NO(3)/H(2)O and complex layers supported by extensive C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C(8)H(10)F(3)O(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], is a dimethanol coordinated zinc complex with the acetyl acetonate derivative 1,1,1-trifluoro-5,5-dimethyl-hexane-2,4-dionate. The bis--β-diketonate complex, which is isostructural with its Co analogue, is located on a crystallographic inversion center. The complex is octa-hedral with basically no distortion, and the methanol mol-ecules are in trans positions with respect to one another. The planes of the β-diketonate and the ZnO(4) unit are tilted by 18.64 (10)° against each other. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the methanol hydroxyl groups and neighboring diketonate O atoms create chains running along [100].

Project description:The title compound, [K2Fe{OCH(CF3)2}4] n , was formed from the reaction of potassium hexa-fluoro-isopropoxide with iron(II) chloride in toluene. The Fe(II) atom has a highly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. All four of the non-equivalent hexa-fluoro-isoprop-oxy O atoms link the Fe(II) atoms to one of the K(+) atoms in an alternating chain of Fe-O-K-O fused four-membered rings, with K-Fe distances of 3.715 (2) and 3.717 (2) Å. This K(+) atom is also bridged to eight of the F atoms. The other K(+) atom is bonded to only two of the O atoms, but has seven short K⋯F contacts, one of which links the chains into a three-dimensional arrangement. Weak hydrogen bonding between the lone H atoms on the hexa-fluoro-isoprop-oxy groups and F atoms is also present. The crystal studied was refined as an inversion twin.
