Bis[2-(2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1H-benzimidazol-3-ium] chloranilate.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title mol-ecular salt {systematic name: bis-[2-(2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1H-benzimidazol-3-ium] 2,5-di-chloro-3,6-dioxo-cyclo-hexa-1,4-diene-1,4-diolate}, 2C₁₃H₁₁N₂O⁺·C₆Cl₂O₄ ^2-, the chloranilate anion is located on an inversion centre, so that the asymmetric unit contains one cation and one half of the chloranilate anion. In the crystal, the cation and the anion are connected by a bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bond, forming a 2:1 unit. The units are linked into a layer lying parallel to (01) via O-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Between the layers, a C-Cl⋯π inter-action is observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(8)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2) (2-), contains a 2-methyl-benzimidazolium cation and one half of a naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate anion. The formula unit is generated by an inversion center. In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into chains along [001]. In addition, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯π inter-actions are observed. The methyl H atoms were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(17)H(13)N(4) (+)·BF(4) (-), contains one half of the benzimidazolium cation and one half of the tetra-fluoridoborate anion, with crystallographic mirror planes bis-ecting the mol-ecules. One F atom of the tetra-fluoridoborate is equally disordered about a crystallographic mirror plane. In the crystal, C-H⋯F inter-actions link the cations and anions into layers parallel to (100). The crystal packing is further stabilized by F⋯π contacts involving the tetra-fluoridoborate anions and the five-membered rings [F⋯centroid = 2.811 (2) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, (C(8)H(6)F(3)N(2))(2)[HgCl(4)]·2H(2)O, the Hg(II) cation is coordinated by four Cl(-) anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the 2-trifluoro-methyl-1H-benzimidazolium cations link to the [HgCl(4)](2-) complex anions and lattice water mol-ecules via N-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and the lattice water mol-ecules further link to the Hg complex anion and the organic cations via O-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯F hydrogen bonding. One of the trifluoro-methyl groups is disordered over two orientations in a 0.59 (4):0.41 (4) ratio.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(6)F(3)N(2) (+)·0.5C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2) (2-), consists of one 2-trifluoro-methyl-1H-benz-imidazol-3-ium cation and a half naphthalene-1,5-disulfate anion, which are linked by an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The anion sits across a centre of symmetry. The atoms of the benzimidazole ring are nearly coplanar (r.m.s. deviation of the fitted atoms = 0.0085 Å) and the triflouromethyl group lies out of this plane. In the crystal, the cations are linked to adjacent anions by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a ladder structure parallel to the a axis in which the anions form the rungs. Adjacent ladders are linked by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming sheets parallel to the ac plane.

Project description:The title compound, C(26)H(26)N(2)S(2), was synthesized from bis-[1,3-bis-(3-phenyl-prop-yl)benzimidazolidine-2-yl-idene] and CS(2) in toluene. The mol-ecular structure is composed of a benzimidazole ring system with two phenyl-propyl substituents and a dithio-carboxyl-ate group in the 2-position. The benzimidazole unit is essentially planar, with a maximum atomic deviation of 0.008 (2) Å, and makes dihedral angles of 72.72 (10) and 27.62 (12)°, with the two phenyl rings. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings is 55.98 (15)°. The mol-ecular packing is stabilized by a C-H⋯S inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-action and a C-H⋯π inter-action between a benzene H atom and the phenyl ring of a neighbouring mol-ecule.

The benz-imidazole ring is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0207 Å) and makes dihedral angles of 50.12 (2)° with its symmetry-related component and 65.81 (2)° with the central benzene ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯F inter-actions. A π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.530 (1) Å is observed. Four F atoms of the hexa-fluoro-phosphate anion are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.889 (6):0.111 (6) ratio.

There is π-π stacking between symmetry-related benzene rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.949 (3) Å. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin, with a 19% minor component.
