ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Co₆Hg₂(C₅H₅)₆(C₅H₄Se)₆](PF₆)₄·2CH₃CN or [Hg₂(CcSe)₆][PF₆]₄·2CH₃CN (Cc = C₁₀H₉Co), was obtained as bright-orange needle-shaped crystals. It is a salt containing a tetra-cationic dimercury species with six cobaltoceniumseleno-late ligands, four hexa-fluorido-phosphate counter-ions and two aceto-nitrile solvent mol-ecules. The cation (point group ) has a bi-tetra-hedral {Hg₂Se₆} core with two bridging Se atoms and four terminal Se atoms.

Project description:The title salt, [Yb(C(4)H(10)O(2))(4)][Hg(2)(C(6)H(5)Se)(6)], consists of eight-coordinate homoleptic [Yb(DME)(4)](2+) dications (DME is 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane) countered with [Hg(2)(SePh)(6)](2-) di-anions. The cations and anions have twofold rotation and inversion symmetry, respectively. The Yb centre displays a square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry and the Hg centre has a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. One phenyl-selenolate anion and one methyl group of a DME ligand are disordered over two positions with equal occupancies. This structure is unique in that it represents a less common mol-ecular lanthanide species in which the lanthanide ion is not directly bonded to an anionic ligand. There are no occurrences of the [Hg(2)(SePh)(6)](2-) dianion in the Cambridge Structural Database (Version of November 2007), but there are similar oligomeric and polymeric Hg(x)(SePh)(y) species. The crystal structure is characterized by alternating layers of cations and anions stacked along the c axis.

Project description:In the title complex, the central PdII ion has an N4 square-planar coordination geometry defined by the four N atoms of two bidentate 2,3-di-2-pyridylpyrazine ligands. The title compound, [Pd(C14H10N4)2](NO3)2·CH3CN, consists of a cationic PdII complex, two anions and one lattice solvent molecule, all in general positions. In the complex, the PdII cation is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry defined by the four N atoms of two bidentate 2,3-di-2-pyridylpyrazine ligands. The complex, anions and solvent molecule are linked by weak C—H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the complex molecules are stacked in columns along the a axis.

Project description:The reaction of silver(I) triflouromethanesulfonate with isonicotinamide in acetonitrile produces a polymeric structure held together by discrete hydrogen bonds, regium bonds between the metal atom and the solvent molecules, and metal–metal interactions. The central AgI atom of the title salt, [Ag(INAM)2](CF3SO3)·2CH3CN, where INAM is isonicotinamide (C6H6N2O), is twofold coordinated by the pyridine N atoms of two isonicotinamide ligands creating a slightly distorted linear molecular geometry. The formation of polymeric chains {[Ag(INAM)2]+}n, held together by discrete hydrogen bonds through the amide group of the INAM ligand leaves voids for non-coordinating acetonitrile molecules that interact the silver metal center via regium bonds.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound consists of discrete octahedral complexes, which are linked by intermolecular C—H⋯S and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds into chains. Single crystals of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C5H4BrN)2(C2H3N)2], were obtained by the reaction of Co(NCS)2 with 3-bromopyridine in acetonitrile. The CoII cations lie on crystallographic inversion centers and are coordinated by two N-bonded thiocyanate anions, two 3-bromopyridine and two acetonitrile ligands thereby forming slightly distorted CoN6 octahedra. In the crystal, these complexes are linked by C—H⋯S and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. In the direction of the crystallographic b-axis, the complexes are arranged into columns with neighboring 3-bromopyridine ligands stacked onto each other, indicating π–π interactions. The CN stretching vibration of the thiocyanate anions is observed at 2066 cm−1, in agreement with the presence of only N-bonded anionic ligands. TG-DTA measurements reveal that in the first mass loss the acetonitrile ligands are removed and that in the second step, half of a 3-bromopyridine ligand is lost, leading to the formation of a polymeric compound with the composition [(Co(NCS)2)2(C5H4BrN)3]n already reported in the literature.

Project description:The molecular structure of the title complex consists of an eight-membered Cu4C4 ring with an alternating arrangement of copper(I) atoms and μ-mesityl groups. Two of the copper(I) atoms are additionally linked to PMe3 ligands, giving a distorted trigonal coordination. The title compound, [Cu4(C9H11)4(C3H9P)2] or [Cu4(Mes)4(PMe3)2] (Mes = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl), was synthesized from copper(I) mesityl and trimethylphosphane in THF as solvent. The molecular structure of the complex has C2 symmetry and consists of four copper(I) atoms bridged by four μ-mesityl groups, giving an eight-membered puckered {Cu4C4} ring. Additionally, two copper(I) atoms at opposite corners of the Cu4 rhomb are each linked to a terminal PMe3 ligand. The PMe3-bearing copper(I) atoms exhibit a distorted trigonal–planar coordination mode whereas the remaining Cu atoms linked to two mesityl groups are nearly linearly coordinated.

The Cu(II) atom shows a square-pyramidal coordination geometry and is bonded to four N atoms of the two bis-chelating 3,5-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)pyrazol-ate ions (bpypz(-)) and one O atom of the hydrogensulfate ion. The bpypz(-) ligands in the complex mol-ecule are virtually coplanar [dihedral angle between the mean ligand planes = 0.000(1)°] with the Cu(II) atom deviating in opposite directions from their best plane by 0.2080 (12) Å. π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl and pyrazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.391 (3) Å] and strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the hydrogensulfate ligands and the methanol mol-ecules assemble the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional polymeric structure extending along the a axis. The methanol mol-ecule acts both as an accepter and a donor in the hydrogen bonding.
