ABSTRACT: The title racemic triquinane, C₁₄H₁₄Cl₂O₂, is composed of four five-membered rings, one of which is a tetra-hydro-furan ring to which an allyl group on one side and a hydroxyl group on the other side are attached. The core of the triquinane unit has a cis-syn-cis configuration. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by pairwise O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating inversion dimers featuring R ² ₂(8) loops.

Project description:The title compound, C20H18O6, prepared from d-mannitol by a two-step procedure, is a functionalized fused bis-tetra-hydro-furan. In the central fragment, consisting of two fused tetra-hydro-furan rings, one O atom and its two adjacent C atoms, a methyl-ene and a bridgehead C atom, are disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.735 (9):0.265 (9). In the major component, the ring containing the disordered O atom is a half-chair conformation with twisted methylene and benzoate-substituted C atoms, whereas the other ring has a half-chair or T-form conformation. In the minor component, the ring with the disordered O atom has an envelope conformation, with the O atom as the flap, and the other ring has a half-chair conformation, with the O atom and the other bridgehead CH atom being twisted. The two aromatic rings are inclined to one another by 20.00 (12)°. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked via C-H⋯π interactions, forming chains propagating along [010].

Project description:The title compound, C9H12O5, is a bicyclic lactone, presenting a 2,6-dioxabi-cyclo-[3.3.0]octan-3-one skeleton, which was obtained through an intra-molecular lactonization. The bicyclic lactone presents a cis ring-junction and a 1,5-trans-substituted tetra-hydro-furan. Both five-membered rings are in twisted envelope conformations with one of the fused C atoms as the flap. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the bicyclic lactone residue, defined by the di-hydro-furan-2(3H)-one and the tetra-hydro-furan rings, is 69.5 (2)°. Project description:The Flack and Watkin 2AD plot based on 1941 acentric Friedel pairs for the title chloroform solvate shows that the observed intensity differences for Friedel opposites are dominated by random and systematic errors, erasing information about resonant scattering. The title compound, C22H33NO12·CHCl3, was obtained as a product of a double aza-Michael addition of hydroxylamine on a Chiron with a known absolute configuration. The enantiopure compound crystallized as a chloroform solvate, in space group P1, and diffraction data were collected at room temperature with Ag Kα radiation. The Flack parameter refined to x = −0.01 (16); however, the Flack and Watkin 2AD plot clearly shows that differences between Friedel opposites (the D component of the plot) do not carry any reliable information about resonant scattering of Cl atoms, and are rather dominated by random and systematic errors. The RD factor calculated using 1941 acentric Friedel pairs is RD = 0.995. On the other hand, the 2A component of the plot, related to average intensities of Friedel pairs, shows that data are of good quality (RA = 0.069). This example illustrates that while using Ag Kα radiation (λ = 0.56083 Å), scatterers heavier than Cl should be present in a chiral crystal in order to determine confidently the absolute structure of the crystal.

The three C atoms of a di-meth-oxy-ethane ring and dioxolane ring attached with two methyl groups are disordered over two sets of sites in 0.66 (2):0.34 (2) and 0.62 (2):0.38 (2) ratios, respectively. The major and minor components of the ace-naphthyl-ene ring are essentially planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.0254 and 0.0436 Å, respectively). The major and minor components of the pyrrolidine ring adopt C-envelope conformations with C atoms displaced by 0.492 (11) and 0.595 (7) Å from the remaining ring atoms. One of the dioxolane rings is disordered with its major component in an envelope conformation [C displaced by 0.511 (11) Å] and the minor fraction is more or less planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.070 Å. The other dioxolane ring is in an envelope conformation, with a C atom displaced by 0.438 (3) Å from the remainder of the ring atoms. The crystal packing features C-H⋯O inter-actions, which generate C(9) chains.

Project description:In the title compound, C18H14N2O5, the pyrrolidine ring adopts a shallow envelope conformation, with the C atom bearing the OH group (and remote from the N atom) displaced by 0.257 (2) Å from the other atoms. The cyclo-pentane ring has a twisted conformation about the C-C bond bearing one =O and one -OH grouping. The dihedral angle between the five-membered rings (all atoms) is 65.54 (9)° and the OH groups lie to the same side of the ring-junction. Project description:The title compound, C23H20N2O6S, crystallizes as a racemate in the space group P-1, with an overall L- or J-shape to each mol-ecule. Centrosymmetric pairs of mol-ecules are tandem hydrogen bonded between the hydro-per-oxy H atom and carbonyl O atom. A different centrosymmetric pairing has stacked S-tolyl rings, and a third pairing is L,J-inter-locked by the short leg. Except for stacked tolyl pairs, neighboring π-systems are much closer to orthogonal than coaxial. The title compound is the first example of a hydro-peroxide obtained from the autoxidation of a Diels-Alder adduct of a 2-vinyl-pyrrole.

The major fraction of the disordered pyrrolidine ring exhibits an envelope conformation while the minor component is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.037 (12) Å]. The other pyrrolidine ring also adopts an envelope conformation. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two wings of the pyrrolidine ring is 30.6 (2)°. Both the major and minor components of the acenaphthyl-enone unit are essentially planar, the maximum deviations being 0.025 (10) and 0.047 (19) Å, respectively; the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two components is 1.72 (3)°. The crystal packing features C-H⋯O inter-actions.
