ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Pd(C₁₄H₁₀N₄)₂](NO₃)₂·CH₃CN, consists of a cationic Pd^II complex, two anions and one lattice solvent mol-ecule, all in general positions. In the complex, the Pd^II cation is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry defined by the four N atoms of two bidentate 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine ligands. The complex, anions and solvent mol-ecule are linked by weak C-H⋯O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the a axis.

Project description:The Pd(II) ion in the title complex, [Pd(NCS)(2)(C(14)H(10)N(4))], is four-coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment by the two pyridine N atoms of the chelating 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine (dpp) ligand and two S atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The pyridine rings are considerably inclined to the least-squares plane of the PdS(2)N(2) unit [maximum deviation = 0.027 (1) Å], making dihedral angles of 70.3 (2) and 69.2 (1)°. The pyrazine ring is almost perpendicular to the PdS(2)N(2) plane, with a dihedral angle of 86.3 (1)°. The thio-cyanate ligands are located on opposite sides of the PdS(2)N(2) unit plane and are almost linear [N-C-S angles = 177.8 (6) and 178.9 (6)°]. The complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the b axis and are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the a axis.

Project description:The components of the title 1:1 co-crystal, C(14)H(10)N(4)·C(6)F(4)I(2), are connected via an N⋯I [2.959 (4) Å] halogen bond, in which the N atom is part of the relatively electron-rich pyrazine ring. The C(6)F(4)I(2) mol-ecule is almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.038 Å] but there are significant twists in the pyrazine derivative, as seen in the dihedral angles [31.3 (2) and 54.6 (2)°] formed between the pendant pyridyl rings and the central pyrazine ring. The bimolecular aggregates are sustained in the crystal by C-H⋯F and π-π inter-actions [ring centroid(pyrid-yl)-ring centroid(benzene) = 3.678 (3) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(6)H(16)N(2))(2)](NO(3))(2)·H(2)O, the bis-(2,3-dimethyl-butane-2,3-diamine)nickel(II) complex cation possesses a relatively undistorted square-planar geometry about the Ni atom, which lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by four N atoms from two symmetry-related 2,3-diamino-2,3-dimethyl-butane (tmen) ligands. The amine groups are N-H⋯O hydrogen bonded to the nitrate anions, which are, in turn, linked by inter-stitial water mol-ecules lying on a twofold axis. The infinite zigzag chains thus formed along [001] are further connected to each other by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds towards the water mol-ecules, forming layers of two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded arrays.

Project description:The crystal structures of 2,3-bis-(thio-phen-2-yl)pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine, C15H9N3S2 (1), and 7-bromo-2,3-bis-(thio-phen-2-yl)pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine, C15H8BrN3S2 (2), are discussed. Both mol-ecules crystallize in space group P21/c. In 1, the thienyl rings are inclined to the mean plane of the pyrido-pyrazine moiety by 6.16 (7) and 86.66 (8)°, where as in 2 the corresponding dihedral angles are 33.29 (11) and 19.84 (9)°. The pyrido-pyrazine moiety is relatively planar in 1 with the two rings being inclined to each other by 1.33 (7)°. In 2, however, the pyrido-pyrazine moiety is buckled with the corresponding dihedral angle being larger at 8.78 (10)°. In the crystal of 1, the packing creates inter-secting bilayers; the layering results from the pyrido-pyrazine moieties being engaged in offset π-stacking, where the inter-planar distance is 3.431 (9) Å with an offset 1.14 Å. In the crystal of 2, the mol-ecules pack head-to-head and are linked by a series of C-H⋯Br and C-H⋯N inter-molecular inter-actions, forming layers parallel to the ab plane.

Synthesis, crystal structure and thermal properties of bis(acetonitrile-κN)bis(3-bromopyridine-κN)bis(thiocyanato-κN)cobalt(II)

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound consists of discrete octahedral complexes, which are linked by intermolecular C—H⋯S and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds into chains. Single crystals of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C5H4BrN)2(C2H3N)2], were obtained by the reaction of Co(NCS)2 with 3-bromopyridine in acetonitrile. The CoII cations lie on crystallographic inversion centers and are coordinated by two N-bonded thiocyanate anions, two 3-bromopyridine and two acetonitrile ligands thereby forming slightly distorted CoN6 octahedra. In the crystal, these complexes are linked by C—H⋯S and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. In the direction of the crystallographic b-axis, the complexes are arranged into columns with neighboring 3-bromopyridine ligands stacked onto each other, indicating π–π interactions. The CN stretching vibration of the thiocyanate anions is observed at 2066 cm−1, in agreement with the presence of only N-bonded anionic ligands. TG-DTA measurements reveal that in the first mass loss the acetonitrile ligands are removed and that in the second step, half of a 3-bromopyridine ligand is lost, leading to the formation of a polymeric compound with the composition [(Co(NCS)2)2(C5H4BrN)3]n already reported in the literature.
