ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title solvated mol-ecular salt, 3C₃₂H₃₆Br₂N₄ ²⁺·6Br^-·2C₂H₅OH, consists of 1.5 cations, three bromide anions and one ethanol solvent mol-ecule of crystallization. The half-cation is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry. In the crystal, O-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯Br inter-actions link the components.

Project description:Cations of the title compound interact via π–π interactions and hydrogen bond with water to form a zigzag ribbon. The chevron-shaped cations of the title hydrated salt, C25H22N42+·2Br−·2H2O, are arranged in back-to-back alternating directions to form a zigzag ribbon propagating along the [010] direction. Intermolecular interactions comprising these ribbons are π–π interactions between the pyridinium and adjacent pyridyl rings, as well as O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding between water molecules and two adjacent pyridyl N atoms. Half of the cation is generated by the mirror plane. The water O atoms, the central C atom and one Br atom are located on this mirror plane while the other Br atom is on a twofold screw axis.

The chevron-shaped cations stack as columns in the [001] direction with suitable inter-molecular distance for π-π inter-actions. These cationic columns are further stabilized by inter-columnar C-H⋯N hydrogen bonding with the bromide ions distributed between them.

Project description:In the title 1:2 co-crystal, C—I⋯N halogen bonds between one of the 1,2,3,5-tetrafluoro-4,6-diiodobenzene molecules and the 5-{[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethynyl}pyrimidine molecule form [110] chains while the second 1,2,3,5-tetrafluoro-4,6-diiodobenzene molecule resides in [100] channels. The treatment of 5-{[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethynyl}pyrimidine with a threefold excess of 1,2,3,5-tetrafluoro-4,6-diiodobenzene in dichloromethane solution led to the formation of the unexpected 1:2 title co-crystal, C14H13N3·2CF4I2. In the extended structure, two unique C—I⋯N halogen bonds from one of the 1,2,3,5-tetrafluoro-4,6-diiodobenzene molecules to the pyrimidine N atoms of the 5-{[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethynyl}pyrimidine molecule generate [110] chains and layers of these chains are π-stacked along the a-axis direction. The second 1,2,3,5-tetrafluoro-4,6-diiodobenzene molecule resides in channels formed parallel to the a-axis direction between stacks of 5-{[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethynyl}pyrimidine molecules and interacts with them via C—I⋯π(alkyne) contacts.

Project description:In the title bimetallic complex, two Cd2+ metal ions are linked by a pair of Cl− ions and their coordinations completed by another Cl− ion and three N atoms. The title solvated bimetallic complex, [Cd2Cl4(C13H17N3)2]·C2H5OH, comprises two Cd2+ metal ions linked by a pair of μ2 Cl− ions. The coordination sphere around each Cd2+ ion is completed by three N atoms of a tridentate 8-[2-(dimethylamino)ethylamino]quinoline ligand and another chloride ion to form a distorted fac-CdN3Cl3 octahedron. The ethanol molecule is both an acceptor of an N—H⋯O and a donor of an O—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to its adjacent complex unit. In the crystal, weak aromatic π–π stacking is observed.
