ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Nb₆Cl₁₂(H₂O)₆]I₂, consists of the niobium cluster cation [Nb₆Cl₁₂(H₂O)₆]²⁺ and two non-coordinating, charge-balancing iodide ions. The edges of the Nb₆ octa-hedron are bridged by chlorido ligands. Each Nb atom is further coordinated by a water ligand. The cluster cation has a charge of +2, which is balanced by that of two iodide anions.

THF solvent molecules are bound via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The title compound, [Nb6Cl12I2(H2O)4]·8THF (THF is tetrahydrofuran, C4H8O), comprises an uncharged niobium cluster unit surrounded by THF solvent molecules. The edges of the {Nb6} octahedron are μ2-coordinated by twelve chlorido ligands. Four in-plane (equatorial plane) aqua ligands and two iodido ligands coordinating above and below the plane are bound at the corners of the {Nb6} atomic octahedron. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds are formed between the aqua ligands and the THF solvent molecules; one THF molecule is disordered over two positions with the major component having a site occupancy of 0.64 (2).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ir2Cl4(C12H19)2], a versatile starting material for the preparation of uniquely substituted penta-alkyl-cyclo-penta-dien-yl-iridium complexes, consists of an iridium(III) atom, a substituted cyclo-penta-dienyl ligand and two chlorine ligands. The full dimer is generated by an inversion center. In the dimer, the two Ir(III) atoms and two bridging Cl atoms form a perfectly planar ring. The two Ir(III) atoms and the two terminal Cl atoms also form a rigorous plane that is orthogonal [89.48 (3)°] to the Ir2Cl2 ring. The plane of the cyclo-penta-dienyl ligand forms a dihedral angle of 54.06 (7)° with respect to the Ir2Cl2 ring.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ni(C10H8N4)2(H2O)2]I2·2C2H5OH} n , the complex shows an octa-hedral environment of the Ni(2+) cation in which it is located on a centre of symmetry, linked to two water mol-ecules and the pyridine-N atoms of four 4,4'-(diazenediyl)dipyridine ligands bridging Ni(2+) cations along the b- and c-axis directions, giving rise to a two-dimensional arrangement. The Ni-N bond lengths are in the range 2.109 (4)-2.186 (3) Å and the Ni-O bond length is 2.080 (3) Å. The 4,4'-(diazenedi-yl)dipyridine ligand lies on an inversion centre. An O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-action is observed between water and ethanol mol-ecules. The I(-) ions can be regarded as free anions in the crystal lattice.

Project description:In the structure of the binuclear title compound, [Cd2(C6H13N2)2Cl6], two Cd(II) atoms are bridged by two Cl(-) ligands, defining a centrosymmetric Cd2Cl2 motif. Each metal cation is additionally coordinated by two Cl(-) ligands and the N atom of a protonated 1,4-di-aza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (H-DABCO)(+) ligand, leading to an overall trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment with one of the bridging Cl(-) ligands and the N atom at the apical sites. Project description:In the title solvate, [Cu4(μ2-Cl)6(μ4-O)(C4H9NO)4]·2CH3OH, each Cu(2+) ion in the tetra-nuclear complex has a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination arising from three bridging chloride ions in equatorial positions and the central μ4-O(2-) ion and morpholine N atom in axial positions. The morpholine rings adopt chair conformations, with the N-Cu bonds in equatorial orientations. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, which generate a three-dimensional network. The two NiII ions are bridged by two Cl anionic ligands, thereby forming a dinuclear complex. A crystallographic centre of inversion is located at the centroid of the Ni2Cl2 ring.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(6)H(20)N(4) (2+)·2I(-), comprises half a 3,6-diaza-octane-1,8-diaminium dication plus an I(-) anion. The dications are symmetrical and lie across crystallographic centres of inversion. In the crystal, the ions form a network involving mainly weak N-H⋯I inter-molecular inter-actions: two H atoms of the ammonium group form inter-actions with two I(-) anions and the H atom of the secondary amine forms a weak inter-action with a third I(-) cation. The third ammonium H atom is hydrogen bonded to a secondary amine of an adjacent cation. The backbone of the cation does not form a uniformly trans chain, but is 'kinked' [C-N-C-C torsion angle = 71.5 (2)°], probably to accommodate the direct hydrogen bond between the ammonium group and the secondary amine in an adjacent cation.

Two of the en ligands surrrounding the Ni(2+) ion have disordered C atoms, while the third exhibits extensive weak N-H⋯I inter-actions with the two iodide ions that extend throughout the crystalline lattice, producing an infinite network along (011).

Direct Growth of van der Waals Tin Diiodide Monolayers.

Project description:Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials have garnered considerable attention for their unique properties and potentials in a wide range of fields, which include nano-electronics/optoelectronics, solar energy, and catalysis. Meanwhile, challenges in the approaches toward achieving high-performance devices still inspire the search for new 2D vdW materials with precious properties. In this study, via molecular beam epitaxy, for the first time, the vdW SnI2 monolayer is successfully fabricated with a new structure. Scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy characterization, as corroborated by the density functional theory calculation, indicates that this SnI2 monolayer exhibits a band gap of ≈2.9 eV in the visible purple range, and an indirect- to direct-band gap transition occurs in the SnI2 bilayer. This study provides a new semiconducting 2D material that is promising as a building block in future electronics/optoelectronics.
