Complete Genome Sequence from an Uncultivated Freshwater Elusimicrobiota Lineage.

ABSTRACT: Here, we report the first complete genome of an uncultivated freshwater Elusimicrobiota organism recovered from a nonaxenic Amoebozoa sp. culture. The chromosome was obtained from a metagenomic long-read sequencing run and was assembled as a circular element at a 47× coverage, a length of 3.8 Mbp, and a G+C content of 68.6%.

Project description:We report the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the freshwater diatom Asterionella formosa. The large 61.9 kb circular sequence encodes 34 proteins and 25 tRNAs that are universally conserved in other sequenced diatoms. We fully resolved a unique 24 kb region containing highly conserved repeated sequence units, possibly collocating with an origin of replication.

Complete genome sequence of the gliding freshwater bacterium Fluviicola taffensis type strain (RW262).

Project description:Fluviicola taffensis O'Sullivan et al. 2005 belongs to the monotypic genus Fluviicola within the family Cryomorphaceae. The species is of interest because of its isolated phylogenetic location in the genome-sequenced fraction of the tree of life. Strain RW262(T) forms a monophyletic lineage with uncultivated bacteria represented in freshwater 16S rRNA gene libraries. A similar phylogenetic differentiation occurs between freshwater and marine bacteria in the family Flavobacteriaceae, a sister family to Cryomorphaceae. Most remarkable is the inability of this freshwater bacterium to grow in the presence of Na(+) ions. All other genera in the family Cryomorphaceae are from marine habitats and have an absolute requirement for Na(+) ions or natural sea water. F. taffensis is the first member of the family Cryomorphaceae with a completely sequenced and publicly available genome. The 4,633,577 bp long genome with its 4,082 protein-coding and 49 RNA genes is a part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project.

Project description:We report the first complete genome sequence of a lineage III peste des petits ruminants virus (KN5/2011) using RNA extracted from goat lung tissue collected in Kenya in 2011. The genome shows the highest nucleotide sequence identity with lineage II peste des petits ruminants viruses (PPRVs) (86.1 to 87.2%) and the lowest with lineage IV PPRVs (82.5 to 83.8%).
