Cool season grasses often form reciprocal symbiotic relationships with endophytic fungal species in genus <i>Epichloë</i>. In this study, we characterized three fungal endophytes isolated from the grass <i>Hordeum bogdanii</i> native to northwest China. Based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of <i>tefA</i>, <i>tubB</i>, and <i>actG</i> sequences, we identified them as <i>Epichloë</i> sp.
