Genome Sequence of Influenza B Epidemic Strain B/Almaty/8/2018.

ABSTRACT: An influenza virus strain, B/Almaty/8/2018, was isolated in Almaty (in southeastern Kazakhstan) during a human population surveillance study in 2018. Here, we present the nearly complete genome sequence of this epidemic strain, compared to the Yamagata-like and Victoria-like variants of the influenza B virus.

Project description:We report the complete coding genome sequence of the influenza A/H3N8 virus, isolated from Anas querquedula in northern Kazakhstan in 2018. Phylogenetic analysis of the surface antigens of strain A/garganey/North-Kazakhstan/45/2018 showed that its hemagglutinin belonged to the Asian line, while its neuraminidase was assigned to the Eurasian group.

Project description:In recent years, acute outbreaks of epizootic diarrhea have occurred on many swine farms in China. Although the putative causative virus of the disease was not isolated, the genomic sequence of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) was consistently detected from feces of diseased pigs by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR). Here we report a complete genome sequence of PEDV which is apparently different from those of early PEDV circulated in Chinese swine herds.

Project description:A mercury (Hg)-resistant Serratia sp. strain, SRS-8-S-2018, was isolated, followed by generation of its draft genome sequence, which indicated a genomic size of 5,323,630 bp composed of 5,261 coding sequences. A suite of genomic functions in strain SRS-8-S-2018 was identified, and these likely facilitate survival in a metalliferous soil habitat.

Project description:Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection, which causes acute diarrhea and dehydration in suckling piglets, has become a serious problem for the swine industry of China in recent years. In this study, a virulent PEDV strain, GD-1, was obtained from fecal samples from suckling piglets that suffered from severe diarrhea in 2011 in Guangdong, China. Here we describe the complete genome sequence of strain GD-1, which may be helpful in further understanding the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of PEDV field isolates in China.
