Crystal structure of 4,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxol-2-one.

ABSTRACT: The planar title compound 4,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxol-2-one, C₅H₆O₃, 1, crystallizes with its mol-ecular C ₂ axis coincident with a crystallographic mirror plane in space group P2₁/m. In the plane defined by the b axis and an ac face diagonal, anti-parallel linear strands of 1, formed by simple translation, associate to form sheets with close H⋯H and O⋯O inter-molecular contacts. Between the sheets, parallel strands of 1 place the carbonyl O atom near the five-membered ring centroid of a neighboring mol-ecule with close O⋯O and O⋯C contacts.

Project description:In the title thia-zolidine-4-one derivative, C20H21NO6S, the central thia-zolidine ring is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms = 0.0287 Å) and forms a dihedral angle of 88.25 (5)° with the meth-oxy-substituted benzene ring and 74.21 (4)° with the 1,3-benzodioxole ring. The heterocyclic ring (with two O atoms) fused to benzene ring adopts an envelope conformation with the non-ring-junction C atom as the flap. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked into chains along [001] through weak C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming R (4) 4(28) edge-fused rings.

Crystal structure of di-chlorido-bis-(1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethyl-2H-imidazole-2-thione-κS)zinc(II).

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [ZnCl2(C11H20N2S)2], shows tetra-hedral Zn coordination from two Cl ligands and two thione groups. The Zn-Cl bond lengths differ sligthly at 2.2310 (10) and 2.2396 (11) Å while the Zn-S bond lengths are equal at 2.3663 (9) and 2.3701 (10) Å. The Cl-Zn-Cl angle is 116.04 (4) and S-Zn-S is 101.98 (3)°. All other angles at the central Zn atom range from 108.108 (3) to 110.21 (4)°. The C-S-Zn angles are 100.75 (10) and 103.68 (11)°, the difference most probably resulting from packing effects, as both the C-S and both the S-Zn bonds are equal in each case. The two imidazole ring planes make a dihedral angle of 67.9 (1)°. The CH3 groups of one isopropyl moiety are disordered over two sets of sites with occupation factors of 0.567 (15) and 0.433 (15). It may be noteworthy that the isomolecular Cu complex shows a different crystal packing (group-subgroup relation) with the Cu atom lying on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, the shortest non-bonding contact is a C-H⋯Cl inter-action. This leads to the formation of centrosymmetric dimers that are stacked along the c-axis.

The S-C-S bond angle is expanded to 129.54 (16)° and the N-C-N angle is reduced to the tetra-hedal value of 108.8 (2)°. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [100]. The chloro-form solvent mol-ecule, which is disordered over two positions [occupancy ratio = 0.51 (2):0.49 (2)], is linked to the chain by bifurcated C-H⋯(S,S) hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C17H12BrN3O2, was unexpectedly isolated during an attempt to synthesize pyridodiazepinediones and identified as an oxazolonaphthyridinone derivative. The almost planar oxazolonaphthyridinone ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.016 Å) makes a dihedral angle of 61.6 (2)° with the phenyl ring. In the crystal, columns of mol-ecules stacked along the a axis are formed by π-π inter-actions between the six-membered rings of the oxazolonaphthyridone moieties [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.494 (2)-3.906 (3) Å], which further inter-act through C-H⋯π contacts with the phenyl rings.

Project description:In the title compound, C12H14N2S, the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation with the exocyclic C-C bond in an equatorial orientation. The mean plane through the cyclo-hexane ring (all atoms) is twisted from the thia-zolo-pyridine ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.013 Å) by 39.57 (6)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules form (100) sheets, although there are no specific directional inter-actions between them. The crystal stucture was refined as a two-component perfect twin.
