Synthesis, spectroscopic and crystal structure studies of N-{3-cyano-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-(ethylsulfanyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl}-2,2,2-trifluoroacetamide

ABSTRACT: The synthesis, crystal structure, and some spectroscopic details for the phenylpyrazole-based insecticide N-{3-cyano-1-[2,6-dichloro-4- (trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-(ethylsulfanyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl}-2,2,2- trifluoroacetamide (C15H8N4Cl2F6OS) are presented. The structure of the title compound, C15H8N4Cl2F6OS, a phenylpyrazole-based insecticide related to ethiprole, fipronil, and derivatives thereof is presented. The pyrazole ring has four chemically diverse substituents, namely a nitrogen-bound 2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl and carbon-bound cyano, ethylsulfanyl, and 2,2,2-trifluoroacetamide groups. The pyrazole and phenyl rings are perpendicular, subtending a dihedral angle of 89.80 (5)°. In the crystal, strong N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into chains that extend parallel to the a-axis.

Project description:The title compound, C20H10F12N4O4S2, is an organic diaryl di-sulfide compound with tri-fluoro-acetamide substituents at the ortho-positions of each benzene ring. There are two mol-ecules (labeled A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The F atoms of three of the -CF3 groups exhibit rotational disorder over two positions each. The S-S bond distances are 2.0914 (7) and 2.0827 (6) Å for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. The dihedral angle between the S-S-C and S-C-C planes is 103.05 (15)° for mol-ecule A and 104.09 (15)° for mol-ecule B. The three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture of the crystal is sustained by numerous N-H⋯O, N-H⋯S and C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The title salt, C9H8FN2 (+)·C2F3O2 (-), crystallizes with two independent cations (A and B) and two independent anions (C and D) in the asymmetric unit. In the cations, the dihedral angles between the benzene and pyrazolium rings are 23.7 (3)° in cation A and 1.8 (8)° in cation B. In the crystal, each anion links to the two cations via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a U-shaped unit with an R 4 (4)(14) ring motif. These U-shaped units stack along the a axis and are linked via C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, forming slabs lying parallel to (100). Within the slabs there are π-π inter-actions between the pyrazolium rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.6326 (15) Å] and between the benzene rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.7244 (16) Å]. In the anions, the F atoms of the tri-fluoro-methyl groups are disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancy ratios of 0.58 (3):0.42, 0.540 (14):0.46 (14), and 0.55 (2):0.45 (2) for anion C, and 0.73 (5):0.27 (5), 0.63 (5):0.37 (5), and 0.57 (8):0.43 (8) for anion D.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(6)Cl(3)F(3)N(4)O, was synthesized by the reaction of 5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoro-meth-yl)phen-yl]-1H-pyrazole-3-carbonitrile and 2-chloro-acetyl chloride. The five-membered pyrazole ring makes a dihedral angle of 71.5 (3)° with the benzene ring. The -CF(3) group is disordered by rotation, and the F atoms are split over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.59 (2) and 0.41 (2). The crystal structure features weak C-H⋯O and N-H⋯N inter-actions involving the carbonyl and cyano groups as acceptors.

N-(4-Bromo-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2,2,2-tri-methyl-acetamide.

Project description:The conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the SO(2)-NH-CO-C group of the title compound (N4BPSTMAA), C(11)H(14)BrNO(3)S, are trans to each other, similar to what is observed in N-(4-chloro-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2,2,2-trimethyl-acet-amide (N4CPSTMAA) and 2,2,2-trimethyl-N-(4-methyl-phenyl--sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSTMAA). The bond para-meters in N4BPSTMAA are similar to those in N4CPSTMAA, N4MPSTMAA, N-aryl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acet-amides and 4-bromo-benzene-sulfonamide. The benzene ring and the SO(2)-NH-CO-C group in N4BPSTMAA form a dihedral angle of 82.8 (1)°, comparable with the values of 82.2 (1)° in N4CPSTMAA and 71.2 (1)° in N4MPSTMAA. N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a centrosymmetric ring characterized by an R(2) (2)(8) motif.

N-(4-Chloro-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2,2,2-tri-methyl-acetamide.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound (N4CPSTMAA), C(11)H(14)ClNO(3)S, the conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the amide group are anti to each other, similar to those observed in N-phenyl-sulfonyl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamide (NPSTMAA) and 2,2,2-trimethyl-N-(4-methyl-phenyl-sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSTMAA). The bond parameters in N4CPSTMAA are similar to those in NPSTMAA, N4MPSTMAA, N-aryl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamides and 4-chloro-benzene-sulfonamide. The -SNHCOC- unit including the amide group is essentially planar and makes a dihedral angle of 82.2 (1)° with the benzene ring, comparable to the values of 79.1 (1) and 71.2 (1)° in NPSTMAA and N4MPSTMAA, respectively. The mol-ecules in N4CPSTMAA are linked into a chain by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H⋯F, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Weak C-H⋯π inter-actions and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6485 (14) Å] are also observed. The overall packing shows a three-dimensional architecture. The crystal structure contains a void of 51 Å(3), but no solvent mol-ecule (hexane or ethyl acetate) is located within it.

The ester group is twisted by 7.6 (1)° from the mean plane of the adjacent benzene ring. Disorder was modeled over two sites for one F atom of the tri-fluoro-methyl group with an occupancy ratio of 0.54 (6):0.46 (6). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks lying parallel to (101). The networks are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

The Ni-N distances range from 2.0594 (12) to 2.0664 (12) Å, intra-ligand N-Ni-N angles range from 84.59 (5) to 86.06 (5)°, and adjacent inter-ligand N-Ni-N angles range between 93.94 (5) and 95.41 (5)°. In the crystal, inversion-related pyrazole rings are π-π stacked, with an inter-planar spacing of 3.4494 (18) Å, forming chains that propagate parallel to the a-axis direction. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present between water mol-ecules and tri-fluoro-methane-sulfonate anions.
