A synthesis of a δ-ketohydroperoxide is described, addressing potential functional-group compatibilities in these elusive species relevant to combustion and atmospheric chemistries. The hydroperoxide is installed via sulfonylhydrazine substitution, which was found to be more effective than displacement of secondary halides.
