The PortaLyzer is a portable homemade device that allows researchers to perform bead-beating steps commonly found in environmental DNA (eDNA) extraction protocols in the field without access to power. This allows researchers to preserve <i>in situ</i> organism abundance by beginning eDNA extraction quickly.
