Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex disorder characterized by impaired neurotransmission in cholinergic and monoaminergic neurons, which, in combination with the accumulation of misfolded proteins and increased oxidative stress, leads to the typical features of the disease at the biomolecular level.
