Intravascular schistosomes may control immune and hemostatic responses by regulating the nature and amount of selected host purinergic signaling molecules - such as adenosine triphosphate (ATP), adenosine diphosphate (ADP), and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) - surrounding them.
