Project description:Denosumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits the osteoclast activating factor receptor activator for nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL). It has been widely used in the treatment of osteoporosis, giant cell tumors of bone, and in the prevention of malignant skeletal-related events (SREs). We collected the research results and related MeSH terms of denosumab from 2011 to 2021 through the Web of Science and PubMed, respectively. The literature was visualized and analyzed by CiteSpace and bibliometric online analysis platforms. The MeSH terms were biclustered using the Bibliographic Co-Occurrence Analysis System (BICOMB) and graph clustering toolkit (gCLUTO). The results show that the number of denosumab-related annual publications had increased from 51 to 215, with the United States leading and Amgen Inc. being the most influential in the past 10 years. Articles published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research had the highest total citations. Three scholars from Shinshu University in Matsumoto, Yukio Nakamura, Takako Suzuki, and Hiroyuki Kato, joined the field relatively late but produced the most. The clinical comparison and combination of denosumab with other drugs in the treatment of osteoporosis was the most significant focus of research. Drug withdrawal rebound and management strategies have gained more attention and controversy recently. MeSH analysis revealed eight major categories of research hotspots. Among them, exploring the multiple roles of the RANK-RANKL-OPG system in tumor progression, metastasis, and other diseases is the potential direction of future mechanism research. It is a valuable surgical topic to optimize the perioperative drug administration strategy for internal spinal fixation and orthopedic prosthesis implantation. Taken together, the advantages of denosumab were broad and cost-effective. However, there were still problems such as osteonecrosis of the jaw, severe hypocalcemia, a high recurrence rate of giant cells in the treatment of bone and individual sarcoidosis, and atypical femoral fractures, which need to be adequately solved.

Project description:This bibliometric analysis aimed to analyze global research trends in laser therapy for hemangiomas, a common benign vascular tumor in children from 1977 to 2024. Publications in laser therapy for hemangiomas from 1977 to 2024 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database, and only articles published in English were analyzed. Bibliometric and visual analyses were performed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix." A total of 1,028 publications from 66 countries and 4,199 authors were analyzed, showing an annual growth rate of 5.61%. The United States led with 365 articles and 11,713 citations. Major contributors included the University of California System and Harvard Medical School, and key journals were Lasers in Surgery and Medicine and Dermatologic Surgery. Pulsed dye laser (PDL) was the most studied laser type. Research focused on optimizing treatment safety, effectiveness, and management, especially in children. The rise of propranolol as a keyword highlighted its increasing role in hemangioma therapy, and the keyword like "classification" and "vascular anomalies" underlining the importance of accurate diagnosis and classification. This study highlights the growing importance of laser therapies for hemangiomas. Future research should explore combining propranolol with laser treatments and the role of precise diagnosis in improving treatment outcomes.

Project description:BackgroundGastric cancer (GC) is a type of malignant tumor that seriously endangers human health. As the understanding of the mechanisms underlying gastric cancer deepens, in recent years, investigations on gastric cancer stem cells (GCSCs) have garnered significant interest. They are pivotal in the onset, progression, recurrence, and pharmacoresistance of GC. Comprehensive research on GCSCs is expected to provide new strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of GC. This article endeavors to comprehensively assess the current status and future trends of GCSCs research through bibliometric analysis, thereby providing a valuable reference for further in - depth studies in this field.MethodsEnglish - language academic journals related to GCSCs research in the Web of Science database were retrieved. Subsequently, VOSviewer was utilized to conduct network collinear analysis of the exported source institutions, literature authors, references, and keywords. And CiteSpace was used to perform statistical analysis of the annual publication count, keyword clustering, references, and keyword burst.ResultsA total of 3882 documents that met the criteria were incorporated. The quantity of published papers has shown a consistent upward trend annually since 2003. Among the authors of the literature, multiple stable core author groups represented by Zhu, Wei, Wang, Mei, Xu, Wenrong, etc. have been formed. There are 335 associated institutions in total. The Japan National Cancer Center has the strongest relevance and the largest number of published papers. There are 7 clustering labels formed among the keywords, including main clustering modules such as activation, cancer stem cells, DNA content aneuploidy, and expression. 25 burst keywords were generated, and the burst keywords in the past two years include mesenchymal stem cells, drug resistance, proliferation, etc. The emergence of references indicates that eight references have been cited up to now and are the focus of current research.ConclusionThe research overview of GCSCs in the past 30 years was visually presented by visual maps. In the past decade, scholars' research in this field has gradually intensified, and the development trend is good. Through the deeper study of the GCSCs mechanism, intervention GCSCs in the future will be a new promising treatment approach for GC patients. This hot topic still deserves more attention in the future.

Project description:Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is an essential second messenger that widely distributed among prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. cAMP can regulate various biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and immune functions. Any dysregulation or alteration of cAMP signaling may cause cell metabolic disorder, immune dysfunction and lead to disease or cancer. This study aimed to conduct a scientometric analysis of cAMP signaling system in cancer field, and explored the research trend, hotspots and frontiers from the past decade. Relevant literatures published from 2009 to 2019 were collected in the Web of Science Core Collection database. EndNote X9 was used to remove duplicate articles, and irrelevant articles were manually filtered. Bibliometric analyses were completed by CiteSpace V. A total of 4306 articles were included in this study. The number of related literatures published each year is gradually increasing. Most of them belong to "Biochemistry & Molecular Biology", "Oncology", "Cell Biology", "Pharmacology & Pharmacy" and "Endocrinology & Metabolism" areas. In the past decade, USA, China, and Japan contributed the most to the research of cAMP signaling system in cancer. The frontiers and hotspots of cAMP signaling pathway system related to cancer fields mainly focused on cancer cell apoptosis, metastasis, and multiple tumors occurrence in patients with Carney complex. Intervention of the cAMP metabolic pathway may be a potential and promising therapeutic strategy for controlling clinical cancer and tumor diseases.

Project description:BackgroundThe recent surge in clinical and nonclinical health-related data has been accompanied by a concomitant increase in personal health data (PHD) research across multiple disciplines such as medicine, computer science, and management. There is now a need to synthesize the dynamic knowledge of PHD in various disciplines to spot potential research hotspots.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to reveal the knowledge evolutionary trends in PHD and detect potential research hotspots using bibliometric analysis.MethodsWe collected 8281 articles published between 2009 and 2018 from the Web of Science database. The knowledge evolution analysis (KEA) framework was used to analyze the evolution of PHD research. The KEA framework is a bibliometric approach that is based on 3 knowledge networks: reference co-citation, keyword co-occurrence, and discipline co-occurrence.ResultsThe findings show that the focus of PHD research has evolved from medicine centric to technology centric to human centric since 2009. The most active PHD knowledge cluster is developing knowledge resources and allocating scarce resources. The field of computer science, especially the topic of artificial intelligence (AI), has been the focal point of recent empirical studies on PHD. Topics related to psychology and human factors (eg, attitude, satisfaction, education) are also receiving more attention.ConclusionsOur analysis shows that PHD research has the potential to provide value-based health care in the future. All stakeholders should be educated about AI technology to promote value generation through PHD. Moreover, technology developers and health care institutions should consider human factors to facilitate the effective adoption of PHD-related technology. These findings indicate opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation in several PHD research areas: (1) AI applications for PHD; (2) regulatory issues and governance of PHD; (3) education of all stakeholders about AI technology; and (4) value-based health care including "allocative value," "technology value," and "personalized value."

Project description:BackgroundThe global prevalence of stroke has been increasing. Motor dysfunction is observed in approximately 55 to 75% of stroke patients, with upper limb impairment affecting around 85% of them. Following upper limb dysfunction, the body's recovery time is not only slower compared to the lower limbs, but the restoration of its fine motor skills is significantly more challenging, greatly impacting the daily lives of patients. Consequently, there is an increasing urgency for study on the upper limb function in stroke.MethodsA search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database for material published from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2023. We included all relevant literature reports and conducted an analysis of annual publications, countries/regions, institutions, journals, co-cited references, and keywords using the software packages CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix R. Next, we succinctly outlined the research trends and hotspots in post-stroke upper limb dysfunction.ResultsThis analysis comprised 1,938 articles from 1,897 institutions, 354 journals, and 53 countries or regions. A yearly rise in the production of publications was noted. The United States is the foremost nation on the issue. Northwestern University has the most amounts of papers compared to all other institutions. The journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair is a highly significant publication in this field, with Catherine E. Lang serving as the principal author. The majority of the most-cited references focus on subjects such as the reliability and validity of assessment instruments, RCT of therapies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The intervention measures primarily comprise three types of high-frequency phrases that are related, as determined by keyword analysis: intelligent rehabilitation, physical factor therapy, and occupational therapy. Current areas of focus in research include randomized clinical trials, neurorehabilitation, and robot-assisted therapy.ConclusionCurrent research has shown a growing interest in studying upper limb function assessment, occupational therapy, physical therapy, robot-assisted therapy, virtual reality, brain-computer interface, telerehabilitation, cortical reorganisation, and neural plasticity. These topics have become popular and are expected to be the focus of future research.

Project description:PurposeThis study aimed to describe the trends, current hotspots, and future directions in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) through a bibliometric analysis.MethodsArticles related to BNCT published before 2023-12-31 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer, R, and CiteSpace were used for bibliometric analysis and visualization.ResultsA total of 3347 related publications from 1975 to 2023 were retrieved. Since a burst of published documents in 1992, the past three decades have witnessed continuous investigations into BNCT-related studies. Japan was the most productive country (794, 23.72%), followed by the USA (792, 23.66%), while the latter had the most citations. Kyoto University was the most influential institution. Ono K was the most prolific author, and Applied Radiation and Isotopes was the most popular journal. Ono K was the author that had the most total citations, followed by Barth RF. "Carborane", "boronophenylalanine", "glioblastoma", "sodium borocaptate", "cancer" and "drug delivery" were the most frequent keywords. The article "Dendrimers and dendritic polymers in drug delivery" had the most citations, whereas "Boron delivery agents for neutron capture therapy of cancer" had the highest outbreak value.ConclusionOver the past three decades, research on BNCT has expanded significantly, with the development of novel boron carriers with improved medicinal characteristics being the most extensively investigated area. Future research will likely focus on the validation and modification of current BNCT treatment modalities using conventional boron agents in brain tumors, accelerator-based neutron sources and the application of BNCT in more clinical scenarios.

Project description:BackgroundThe field of rehabilitation medicine plays an essential role in the comprehensive management of osteoporosis and its consequences. The benefits of therapeutic exercise are increasingly being recognized in this area, which receives an increasing number of publications. this study was designed to comprehensively identify collaborative networks, parse and track research trends, spotlight present hotspots, and accurately predict frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation.MethodsThis research adopted computer retrieval of osteoporosis rehabilitation-related research published in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from inception to June 14, 2022. The bibliometric visualization and comparative analysis involving countries, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords were performed using the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software.ResultsA total of 3,268 articles were included, and the number of articles published each year has demonstrated a steady increase. The United States and the University of Melbourne were the highest productive country and institution, with 1,325 and 87 articles, respectively. The journal of osteoporosis international has published the greatest number of articles, with 221 publications, and the journal of bone and mineral research ranked first in the co-citation counts (cited by 11,792 times). The most productive and highly-cited authors were Heinonen A and Cummings S, with 35 publications and 680 citations.ConclusionsAt present, "physical activity," "weight bearing exercise," "muscle strength," "whole body vibration," "postmenopausal women," "older women," children, men are the noteworthy research hot topics. Future research that focus on the major modes and parameters of physical activity/exercise for osteoporosis (including whole body vibration, weight bearing exercises, resistance training), targeted multicomponent training regimens, rehabilitation therapy for postmenopausal women, older women, children and men, osteoporosis related-sarcopenia and fractures, and mesenchymal stem cells are becoming frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation in the upcoming years, which are worthy of further exploration.
