Draft Genome Sequence of Aeromonas caviae Strain A1-2, a Potential Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizospheric Bacterium.

ABSTRACT: The genomic analysis of the plant growth-promoting rhizospheric Aeromonas caviae strain A1-2, which was isolated from a maize plant in Northwest Province, South Africa, is presented in this paper. Aeromonas caviae strain A1-2 demonstrates its potential to promote plant growth and enhance the tolerance of maize plants to drought stress.

The draft genome sequence of the plant growth promoting rhizospheric bacterium <i>Enterobacter cloacae</i> SBP-8.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequence and annotation of plant growth promoting rhizobacterium Enterobacter cloacae SBP-8 isolated from the rhizosphere of Sorghum bicolor L. growing in desert region of Rajasthan, India. From the genome sequences, we identified the genes encoding plant growth promoting properties such as 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase (AcdS), phosphate solubilisation, siderophore, and IAA (indole acetic acid) production. The genes encoding different functions required for colonization including motility, chemotaxis, adherence, and secretion system (I, II, IV, VI) were also identified. The complete genome sequence of this bacterium consists of one chromosome (48,54,065 bp) and one plasmid (85,398). The genome sequence of Enterobacter cloacae SBP-8 was deposited in the Genbank with the accession number CP016906 (chromosome) and CP017413 (plasmid).

Project description:Paenibacillus polymyxa is an endospore-forming Gram-positive soil bacterium that is well-known for its ability to promote plant growth. Here we report the draft genome sequence of P. polymyxa ATCC 842(T), the type strain of the species P. polymyxa, and the family Paenibacillaceae. The P. polymyxa genome contains a repertoire of biosynthetic genes for antibiotics and hydrolytic enzymes that account for its beneficial effects in the rhizosphere to the host plants it associates with.

Quorum sensing activity of Aeromonas caviae strain YL12, a bacterium isolated from compost.

Project description:Quorum sensing is a well-studied cell-to-cell communication method that involves a cell-density dependent regulation of genes expression mediated by signalling molecules. In this study, a bacterium isolated from a plant material compost pile was found to possess quorum sensing activity based on bioassay screening. Isolate YL12 was identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry and molecular typing using rpoD gene which identified the isolate as Aeromonas caviae. High resolution tandem mass spectrometry was subsequently employed to identify the N-acyl homoserine lactone profile of Aeromonas caviae YL12 and confirmed that this isolate produced two short chain N-acyl homoserine lactones, namely C4-HSL and C6, and the production was observed to be cell density-dependent. Using the thin layer chromatography (TLC) bioassay, both AHLs were found to activate C. violaceum CV026, whereas only C6-HSL was revealed to induce bioluminescence expression of E. coli [pSB401]. The data presented in this study will be the leading steps in understanding the role of quorum sensing in Aeromonas caviae strain YL12.

Draft Genome Sequences of Three Rhizospheric Plant Growth-Promoting Bacteria.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bacillus subtilis A1, Sphingobacterium sp. strain A3, and Pseudomonas sp. strain A29; Sphingobacterium sp. A3 and Pseudomonas sp. A29 were identified as Bacillus velezensis strain A3 and Bacillus subtilis strain A29, respectively, after a quality control check of the whole-genome sequences deposited in the NCBI database. These bacteria exhibit tremendous production of siderophores and significant antimicrobial potential. When inoculated on maize, these isolates increase its yield.
