TfCa, a promiscuous carboxylesterase from <i>Thermobifida fusca</i>, was found to hydrolyze polyethylene terephthalate (PET) degradation intermediates such as bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) and mono-(2-hydroxyethyl)-terephthalate (MHET).
