Plazomicin against Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria: A Scoping Review.

ABSTRACT: Plazomicin is a next-generation semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic that can be used to treat infections by multi-resistant bacteria. It is effective against many bacteria-producing carbapenemases or other specific hydrolases. This scoping review aims to define the role acquired by plazomicin from its approval by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) in 2018 to the present day. Furthermore, we aim to provide a base for a future meta-analysis. This project was conducted following the recommendations presented in the PRISMA extension for scoping reviews and the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis.
