Trend of Admissions Due to Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: An Ecological Study.

ABSTRACT: Objective: This study aimed to examine the trend of hospital admissions related to chronic lower respiratory diseases in England and Wales between 1999 and 2020. Method: This ecological analysis used data that were made accessible to the public and were taken from the Patient Episode Database for Wales (PEDW) and the Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) databases in England for the time span between April 1999 and April 2020. The patients were grouped into four age groups: under 15, 15−59, 60−74, and 75 years and above. Results: In 2020, there were 432,193 chronic lower respiratory disease hospital admissions, which increased from 239,606 in 1999.
