Obesity has become a global epidemic, associated with several chronic complications. The intestinal microbiome is a critical regulator of metabolic homeostasis and obesity. Empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, has putative anti-obesity effects.
