Association of remnant cholesterol with intra- and extra-cranial atherosclerosis in Chinese community population.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Multifocal atherosclerosis has dramatically increased annual risk of adverse cardiovascular events than single artery affected. Triglyceride-rich lipoprotein (TRL) has been implicated in the early development of atherosclerosis. However, evidence on the effect of remnant cholesterol, a major atherogenic component of TRL, on multifocal atherosclerosis in Chinese health asymptomatic subjects is insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the association of remnant cholesterol with intra- and extra-cranial atherosclerosis in Chinese population.

Methods

This study enrolled 3665 participants (median age 52.31 years) from the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community study. Parameters of intra- and extra-cranial atherosclerosis includes intracranial artery sten
