Pseudocapacitive charge storage in Ti<sub>3</sub>C<sub>2</sub>T<sub>x</sub> MXenes in acid electrolytes is typically described as involving proton intercalation/deintercalation accompanied by redox switching of the Ti centres and protonation/deprotonation of oxygen functional groups.
