Organic–inorganic hybrid hexachloridostannate(IV) with 2-methylimidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-2-ium cation

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C8H9N2)2[SnCl6], contains one cation in a general position and one-half of the dianion situated on an inversion centre. The octahedral SnCl62– dianion is almost undistorted. The crystal structure can be seen as an arrangement of alternating organic and inorganic layers with little support from C—H⋯Cl—Sn contacts. Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[SnCl(6)], crystallizes with one diisopropyl-ammonium cation lying on a general position and the hexa-chloridostannate(IV) anion about a centre of inversion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion undergoes a slight distortion from octa-hedral symmetry as the result of the formation of four unforked charge-supported N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen bonds between the cations and anions form layers perpendicular to [101]. These layers are built by 24-membered rings which can be classified with an R(8) (8)(24) graph-set descriptor. According to this hydrogen-bonding motif, the title compound is isostructural with (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[IrCl(6)].

The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion is located on an inversion center and forms a quasi-regular octa-hedral arrangement. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of two kinds, viz. N-H⋯Cl-Sn and C-H⋯Cl-Sn, along with Cl⋯Br inter-actions [3.4393 (15) Å], connect the ions in the crystal structure into two-dimensional supra-molecular arrays. The xanthene ring system is essentially planar, with an average deviation of 0.020 Å, and the substituent benzene ring forms a dihedral angle of 85.89 (2)° with it. There are N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between SnCl(6) (2-) ions and rhodamine 6G cations as well as π-π stacking inter-actions between rhodamine 6G cations (inter-planar distance of 3.827 Å).

Project description:In the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[SnCl(6)]·2H(2)O, the Sn(IV) atom lies on a site with symmetry 2/m. One of the Cl atoms lies on a mirror plane and the 3-methyl-anilinium cation is also situated on a mirror plane. The water mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis. The H atoms of the methyl and ammonium groups and the solvent water mol-ecule are disordered by symmetry. In the crystal, N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the organic cations, the inorganic octahedrally shaped anions and the water mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title organic-inorganic hybrid complex [systematic name: ethane-1,2-diaminium hexa-chlorido-stannate(IV)-4-meth-oxy-benz-alde-hyde (1/2)], (C2H10N2)[SnCl6]·2C8H8O2, contains one half of an ethyl-enedi-ammonium cation, one half of an [SnCl6]2- anion and one p-anisaldehyde mol-ecule. Both the organic cation and the quasi-regular octa-hedral inorganic anion are located about inversion centres. The organic cations and [SnCl6]2- anions lie in layers parallel to the ac plane with p-anisaldehyde mol-ecules occupying the space between the layers. A network of classical N-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds exists between the ethyl-enedi-ammonium cations and the [SnCl6]2- anions and p-anisaldehyde mol-ecules. These inter-actions, together with non-classical C-H⋯O inter-actions between the ethyl-enedi-ammonium cations and the p-anisaldehyde mol-ecules, serve to hold the structure together. The crystal studied was refined as a two-component twin.
