Survival of pediatric AML remains poor despite maximized myelosuppressive therapy. The <i>pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia</i> (PJP)-treating medication atovaquone (AQ) suppresses oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and reduces AML burden in patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse models, making it an ideal concomitant AML therapy.
