Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) is central to global CO<sub>2</sub> fixation. In eukaryotic algae, its catalytic efficiency is enhanced through the pyrenoid - a protein-dense organelle within the chloroplast that concentrates CO<sub>2</sub>.
