Staurosporine both activates and inhibits serine/threonine kinases in human platelets.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The effects of staurosporine on a selection of protein kinases were investigated with thrombin-stimulated and control human blood platelets. The results demonstrate that staurosporine (1 microM) can lead to activation of certain protein kinases in intact platelets and has a general inhibitory effect on the renaturable protein kinases in vitro. New candidates for protein kinases involved in signal transduction are identified.
