The potentiation of growth hormone by asparagine and tryptophan.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Asparagine potentiates the growth-promoting effect of bovine growth hormone in rats when injected 3h after the latter, but not earlier. Tryptophan potentiates only when injected simultaneously with the hormone. The possible mode of action of growth hormone, and the likelihood that asparagine is a limiting factor in the growth of animals, are discussed.
