ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(15)H(15)NO(2)S(3), exists in a bicyclic form, with resonance contributions from two monocyclic forms, each without a second S-S bond. The trithiapentalene heterocyclic ring system is planar, with a mean deviation of 0.014?(2)?Å from the mean plane, and is inclined to the plane of the attached phenyl ring at an angle of 17.24?(7)°.

The central benzene ring and the 4-methyl-benzene ring subtend a dihedral angle of 57.47 (8)°. In the crystal, π-π stacking occurs between the central benzene ring and the 1,2,4-dithia-zolone ring of adjacent mol-ecules, which are aligned almost parallel, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.555 (7) Å.

One of the tetra-fluorido-borate anions shows statistical disorder of the F atoms.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(8)S(2), has an N-N gauche conformation. The triazine rings are nearly coplanar with respect to the imide bonds [C-C-C-N torsion angles = -15.3 (3) and -15.8 (3)°] and they are twisted by 77.88 (7)°. The overall conformation of the mol-ecule is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonding. The mol-ecular packing is influenced by π-π inter-actions of the triazine systems with a shortest centroid-centroid separation of 3.5242 (12) Å.
