ABSTRACT: The Cd(II) atom in the title complex, [Cd(NO(3))(C(18)H(40)N(4))]NO(3)·0.5H(2)O, is coordinated within a cis-N(4)O(2) donor set provided by the tetra-dentate macrocyclic ligand and two O atoms of a nitrate anion; the coordination geometry is distorted octa-hedral. The lattice water mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis. N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O inter-actions link the complex cations into a supra-molecular layer in the bc plane. Layers are connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the lattice water mol-ecule and the non-coordinating nitrate anion, as well as by weak C-H?O contacts.

Project description:The Zn(II) atom in the cation of the title salt, [Zn(C(2)H(3)O(2))(C(18)H(40)N(4))]ClO(4), is five-coordinated by the four N atoms of the macrocycle and the O atom of the monodentate acetate ligand. The N(4)O donor set is based on a trigonal bipyramid with two N atoms occupying axial positions [N-Zn-N = 170.89 (16)°]. The perchlorate anions are associated with the cations via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds; intra-molecular N-H⋯O(acetate) inter-actions are also observed. The neutral aggregates are connected into an helical chain along the b axis via N-H⋯O(acetate) hydrogen bonds. The perchlorate anion was found to be disordered about a pseudo-threefold axis: the major component of the disorder had a site occupancy factor of 0.692 (11).

Project description:The crystal structure of [Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]NCS (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne, C10H24N4) has been determined by using synchrotron radiation at 98 K. The Cr(III) atom is in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment with four N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand and two N-coordinated NCS(-) anions in cis positions. The average Cr-N(cyclam) and Cr-NCS bond lengths are 2.085 (5) and 1.996 (15) Å, respectively. In the crystal, the uncoordinating SCN(-) anion is hydrogen bonded through N-H⋯S and N-H⋯N inter-actions to neighbouring complex cations.

Project description:The two ZnII atoms in the crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(NO3)2(C10H24N4)]·CH3OH, have a distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere, defined by 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane (cyclam) N atoms in the equatorial plane and nitrate O atoms in the axial sites. The conformation of the cyclam is trans-III (R, R, S, S), which is typical for metal-cyclam complexes. Nitrate anions are involved in intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonding with the N-H groups of the ZnII-cyclam unit. Together with the methanol solvent mol-ecule, the hydrogen-bonding network connects the ZnII-cyclam units into ribbons running parallel to the a axis.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [CrCl2(C10H24N4)][Cr(HCONH2)2(C10H24N4)][ZnCl4]2 (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane, cyclam; HCONH2 = formamide, fa), has been determined from synchrotron X-ray data. The asymmetric unit contains two independent halves of the [CrCl2(cyclam)]+ and [Cr(fa)(cyclam)]3+ cations, and one tetra-chlorido-zincate anion. In each complex cation, the CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand in the equatorial plane and two Cl ligands or two O-bonded formamide mol-ecules in a trans axial arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry with crystallographic inversion symmetry. The Cr-N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.061 (2) to 2.074 (2) Å, while the Cr-Cl and Cr-O(fa) bond distances are 2.3194 (7) and 1.9953 (19) Å, respectively. The macrocyclic cyclam moieties adopt the centrosymmetric trans-III conformation with six- and five-membered chelate rings in chair and gauche conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the NH or CH groups of cyclam and the NH2 group of coordinated formamide as donors, and Cl atoms of the ZnCl4 2- anion as acceptors.

The uncoordinated water mol-ecules link the complex cations and the dodeca-noate counter-ions through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, forming a layer structure parallel to (001). Inter-molecular N-H⋯O inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The complete cation in the title hydrated mol-ecular salt, [Ni(CH(3)CO(2))(C(16)H(36)N(4))]ClO(4)·H(2)O, is generated by the application of crystallographic twofold symmetry; the perchlorate anion and water mol-ecule are each disordered around a twofold axis. The Ni(II) atom exists within a cis-N(4)O(2) donor set based on a strongly distorted octa-hedron and defined by the four N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand and two O atoms of a symmetrically coordinating acetate ligand. In the crystal, hydrogen bonding (water-acetate/perchlorate O-H?O and amine-perchlorate N-H?O) leads to layers in the ab plane. The layers stack along the c axis, being connected by C-H?O(water) inter-actions. The crystal studied was found to be a non-merohedral twin; the minor component refined to 15.9?(6)%.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, cis-[CrCl(cycb)(H2O)][ZnCl4]·3H2O (cycb is rac-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-decane; C16H36N4), has been determined from synchrotron data. In the complex cation, the Cr(III) ion is bound by four N atoms from the tetra-dentate cycb ligand, a chloride ion and one water mol-ecule in a cis arrangement, displaying a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The distorted tetra-hedral [ZnCl4](2-) anion and three additional water mol-ecules remain outside the coordination sphere. The Cr-N(cycb) bond lengths are in the range of 2.0837 (14) to 2.1399 (12) Å while the Cr-Cl and Cr-(OH2) bond lengths are 2.2940 (8) and 2.0082 (13) Å, respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the N-H groups of the macrocyclic ligand, the O-H groups of the water mol-ecules and the Cl atoms of the tetra-chlorido-zincate anion, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
