[Hexane-2,5-dione bis-(thio-semi-carba-zon-ato)]nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ni(C8H14N6S2)], the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by N2S2 donor atoms of the tetradentate thio-semicarbazone ligand, and has a slightly distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal, inversion-related mol-ecules are linked via pairs of N-H?N and N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming R 2 (2)(8) ring motifs. Mol-ecules are further linked by slightly weaker N-H?N, N-H?S and C-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks which lie parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)2(H2O)4]·4C6H8N2, the Ni(II) cations are coordinated by four water ligands and two trans-coordinated terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The asymmetric unit consists of a Ni(2+) cation located on a centre of inversion, two water mol-ecules and one thio-cyanate ligand, as well as two uncoordinated 2,5-di-methyl-pyrazine ligands in general positions. In the crystal, discrete complex mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding between the water H atoms and the 2,5-di-methyl-pyrazine N atoms.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-μ-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-O⋯π stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570 (1), 3.758 (1) and 3.609 (1) Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(NCS)2(C6H6N2O)2(H2O)2], the Ni(II) ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms from two nicotinamide ligands and two water mol-ecules in the equatorial plane, and two N atoms from two thio-cyanate anions in the axial positions, all acting as monodentate ligands. In the crystal, weak N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds between the amino groups and the thio-cyanate anions form an R 4 (2)(8) motif. The complex mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O, O-H⋯S, and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. Weak π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings is also found [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8578 (14) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title polymeric compound, [Zn(3)(C(10)H(8)O(4))(3)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n) or [Zn(3)(dmbdc)(3)(py)(2)](n) (dmbdc = 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate; py = pyridine) contains two Zn(II) ions, one of which is located on an inversion centre, one and a half 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and one pyridine ligand. Each ZnO(6) octa-hedron is sandwiched between two ZnO(4)N square-pyramids, forming a trinuclear zinc secondary building unit (SBU); each SBU is further linked by six 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands with six adjacent trinuclear zinc SBU's, forming a two-dimensional layer structure with a (3,6) net. One of the three zinc ions is octa-hedrally coordinated and the other two are square-pyramidally coordinated. The coordination modes for 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ates are bis-(bidentate) or bidentate-tridentate.
