Poly[bis-[?(2)-1,4-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane]-dichloridonickel(II)].

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [NiCl(2)(C(10)H(14)N(4))(2)](n), consists of one Ni(2+) ion which is located on an inversion center, one 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)butane (bimb) and one chloride ion. The Ni(2+) ion exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by four N atoms from four bimb ligands in the equatorial plane and two chloride ions in axial positions. The bridging coordination mode of the bimb ligands leads to the formation of inter-penetrating square Ni(4)(bimb)(4) units that are arranged parallel to (001). The separation between the Ni atoms in these units is 13.740?(3)?Å.

There is no significant inter-molecular inter-action except very weak C-H?Cl inter-actions. The crystal studied was a racemic twin.

The Ni(2+) ion exhibits a penta-coordinate distorted trigonal-bipyramidal NiCl(2)N(3) geometry, with two Cl atoms in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-F?? [F?centroid = 2.9676?(14)?Å] inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [NiCl(2)(C(14)H(32)P(2))]·2C(12)H(9)N, the neutral [Ni(dppe)Cl(2)] complex [dppe is 1,2-bis-(diisopropyl-phosphan-yl)ethane] consists of a tetracoordinated Ni(2+) cation and has a crystallographic twofold axis passing through the metal atom and the mid-point of the CH(2)-CH(2) bond of the dppe ligand. The metal atom shows slight tetra-hedral distortion from an ideal square-planar coordination geometry, as reflected in the dihedral angle between NiCl(2) and NiP(2) planes of 15.32?(2)°. The 9H-carbazole ring system is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.022?Å). In the crystal packing, there are two symmetry-related 9H-carbazole mol-ecules between two adjacent Ni(II) complexes, with an angle between the carbazole mean planes of ca 77°.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(12)H(10)N(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Ni(II) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The asymmetric unit is composed of an Ni(2+) ion, located on a twofold rotation axis, one half of a 1,4-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (BIMB) ligand and one half of a fumarte (fum(2-)) dianion, both ligands being located about inversion centers, and a coordinating water mol-ecule. The Ni(II) ions are linked by two BIMB ligands and two fum(2-) dianions, forming a four-connected layered structure parallel to (010) with a 4(4)-sql topology. Within each layer, there are rhombic grids with dimensions of ca 13.5 × 9.0?Å and approximate angles of 109 and 70°. The crystal packing features a two-dimensional ? two-dimensional parallel/parallel interpenetration in which one undulating layer is catenated to another equivalent one, forming a new bilayer. Moreover, the entangled two-dimensional layers are connected by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional structure.
