RAV12 in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Recurrent Adenocarcinoma

ABSTRACT: RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies, such as RAV12, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of RAV12 in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent adenocarcinoma.

Randomized Phase III Trial of Neoadjuvant HER2 Therapy in Breast Cancer

Project description:<p>This randomized phase III trial studies paclitaxel and trastuzumab with or without lapatinib to see how well they work in treating patients with stage II or stage III breast cancer that can be removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Lapatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving paclitaxel with trastuzumab and/or lapatinib before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. It is not yet known which regimen is more effective in treating patients with breast cancer.</p>

Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Giving S-1 together with bevacizumab may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving S-1 together with bevacizumab works as third-line therapy in treating patients with colorectal cancer that is recurrent or that cannot be removed by surgery.

Giving capecitabine and oxaliplatin together with bevacizumab may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving oxaliplatin and capecitabine together with bevacizumab works in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent colorectal cancer.

Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of colorectal cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving bevacizumab together with combination chemotherapy may be a better way to block tumor growth. Studying the amount of an enzyme found in the tumor may help doctors plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying giving bevacizumab, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan or giving bevacizumab, oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and fluorouracil in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent colorectal cancer.
