Liver Transplantation Compared to Chemotherapy in Patients With ColoRectal Cancer

ABSTRACT: The trial is a randomized control trial. Patients are randomized between Ltx and other treatment that may include further chemotherapy, TACE, SIRT or other available treatment options. The patients will be randomized 1:1 to Ltx and chemotherapy/other treatment options.

Expression data from fine-needle aspiration biopsies of breast cancer metastases from different anatomical sites

Project description:To determine whether breast cancer molecular subtypes and tumor characteristics with demonstrated significance in a primary tumor setting can also confer clinically relevant information in breast cancer metastases. We assessed previously published gene expression modules of seven biological processes and the intrinsic subtypes (PAM50). The translational aspect of the Swedish randomized TEX trial included 112 patients with at least one biopsy from morphologically confirmed loco-regional or distant breast cancer metastasis diagnosed from December 2002 until June 2007. All patients had detailed clinical information, complete follow-up and metastasis gene expression information (Affymetrix array GPL10379). We performed global gene expression profiling on fine-needle aspirates of metastatic lesions from different anatomical sites obtained from breast cancer patients treated within the Swedish randomized trial (TEX) of first-line chemotherapy for locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. Samples were collected before commencement of treatment.

Project description:Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a modality of renal replacement therapy in which the high volumes of available PD effluent (PDE) represents a rich source of biomarkers for monitoring disease and therapy. Although this information could help guiding the management of PD patients, little is known about the potential of PDE to define pathomechanism-associated molecular signatures in PD. Here we use a high-performance multiplex proteomics approach based on depletion of highly abundant plasma proteins and enrichment of low abundance proteins for PDE samples from PD patients (n=6) of a randomized clinical pilot trial, who received either standard PD fluid or a novel PD fluid (added alanyl-glutamine (AlaGln)) in an open-label, randomized, single-center, cross-over clinical trial.

Project description:Some evidence suggests that contraceptive use may influence the female genital tract (FGT) mucosal environment. However, comparative analysis of the effects of the most commonly used hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptives on the FGT host gene expression profile have not been evaluated in detail in a randomized clinical trial setting. Among 188 women enrolled in the Evidence for Contraceptive Options and HIV Outcomes (ECHO) trial (Clinicaltrials.gov ID NCT02550067) between December 2015 and September 2017, we evaluated the effect of three contraceptive methods, injectable intramuscular depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA-IM), levonorgestrel (LNG) implant, and a non-hormonal T-380 copper intrauterine contraceptive device (Cu-IUD), on the endocervical host transcriptome at baseline and after one month of randomized contraceptive use, using RNA-Seq transcriptomic analysis.

We used microarrays to provide a detailed characterization of breast cancer site-specific metastases with particular focus on identifying genes predictive of breast cancer liver metastatic proprnsity We performed global gene expression profiling on fine-needle aspirates of metastatic lesions from different anatomical sites obtained from breast cancer patients treated within the Swedish randomized trial (TEX) of first-line chemotherapy for locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer.
