Pancreas Resection for Colorectal Metastasis: Retrospective Study

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to collect data from different centres to obtain a larger case series and enable a better definition of the outcomes after pancreatic metastasectomy from primary colorectal cancer. To evaluate the possible benefits of surgery, we intend to retrospectively analyze the outcome of patients in whom pancreatic metastases have been surgically treated. Primary objective; 1. To evaluate feasibility and safety of pancreas resection in metastatic colorectal cancer 2. To evaluate oncological outcome at six months from surgical procedure Secondary objective: 1. To evaluate oncological outcome at 12 months from surgical procedure

Wearable bioactive fabrics (BAF) containing semiconductor germanium are shown to generate negative ions and emit far-infrared radiation that are reported to promote microcirculation, enhancing immunity and antibacterial activity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of BAF on bacterial bioburden, fibroblast migration and proliferation, and inflammation modulation.

Proteome profiles of primary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas undergoing adjuvant chemoradiation link ALDH1A1 to early local recurrence and chemoradiation resistance

Project description:Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a poor prognosis with very frequent post-surgical local recurrence. The combination of adjuvant chemotherapy with radiotherapy is under consideration to achieve a prolonged disease-free survival (DFS). To date, few studies have determined protein profiles that are associated with responsiveness to adjuvant chemoradiation. Here, we analyzed the proteomes of primary, surgically resected PDAC tumors subjected to adjuvant chemoradiation and achieving short DFS (median DFS of 6 months, n = 6) or a prolonged DFS (median DFS of 28 months, n = 6) using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.

Recurrent early-stage endometrial cancer and non-recurrent early-stage endometrial cancer

A 72-month follow-up observation was conducted after the surgery to monitor the recurrence situation.The samples is T1aN0M0; Three samples (B80203,C19284,C17025) is not recurrent, one sample (C13956) is recurrent after 12 months.

Comparative brain proteomic analysis between sham and cerebral ischemia experimental groups

Project description:In experimental animal studies, control sham groups are essential to reduce the influence of the surgical intervention on the analysis. The intraluminal filament procedure is one of the most common models of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) used in the study of brain ischemia. However, in these studies, the sham group has not usually been included in the experimental design. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relevance of the sham group by analyzing and comparing the brain protein profile between a sham and an MCAO ischemic group. In the sham group, 98 dysregulated proteins were detected compared to the 171 in the ischemic group. Moreover, a comparative study of both protein profiles showed the existence of a pool of 57 proteins that appeared dysregulated in both sham and ischemic animals. These results indicate that the surgical procedure required for intraluminal occlusion of the MCA induces changes in brain protein expression that are not associated with the ischemic lesion. This study highlights the importance of including control sham groups in the experimental design to guarantee that the therapeutic target under study is not affected by the surgical intervention.

RNA-sequencing of Chronic Phase Shift Protocol on Murine Pancreas

Project description:The objective of this study was to understand the long-term effects of a chronic phase shift protocol on the pancreatic transcriptome. A total of 144 wild-type C57Bl/6J 4-6 week old mice were housed under normal circadian conditions or disrupted using a chronic phase shift protocol whereby the light-dark cycle is advanced 8 hour every 2-3 days for 4 weeks. 12 hours prior to sacrafice mice were normalized under normal circadian conditions. Starting at ZT 0, mice were serially sacraficed at 4-hour intervals for 48 hours and the pancreas extracted. Pancreatic RNA was isolated and subjected to RNA-seq.

RealTime quantitative PCR of cardiac at risk area samples obtained from a mouse model of ischemia and reperfusion injury

Project description:Mice were exposed to cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury and sacrificed after 1 or 4 days. Hearts were stained with Evans blu/TTC to isolate the at risk area. Hearts were divided into 1mm slices, the at risk area of any slice were pooled together before RNA extraction. Mice were divided into 3 different groups: Sham animals have been subjected to the surgical procedure without the induction of the ischemia and reperfusion injury and represent the control animals; LAD group is represented by animals subjected to the surgical procedure and the induction of the ischemia and reperfusion imjury; MLAD group is represented by animals subjected to the surgical procedure and the induction of the ischemia and reperfusion injury, followed by myriocin treatment (SLN/Myr) at the beginning of reperfusion.
