By acquiring insight into the intestinal microbiota composition of postmenopausal women without breast cancer, a control group will be set up for already existing research lines in microbiota research in breast cancer patients at MUMC+. Total RNA extracted from the samples was subjected to next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation using standard Illumina protocols. Completed libraries from individual samples were sequenced on a HiSeq2500 at the Australian Genome Research Facility.
