Early clinical and biomarker responses after treatment in patients with non-segmental vitiligo.

Project description:This study was a prospective cohort study in patients with non-segmental vitiligo receiving SoCtreatment. Standard of care treatment involved a potent topical corticosteroid, such as Fluticasonepropionate (FP) cream, used alone or in combination with NB-UVB phototherapy treatment, based ondisease severity per the investigator’s evaluation. For this study, as per institutional guidelines, FP creamwas the first choice for SoC treatment; however, if FP cream was not available, then potent topicalcorticosteroids such as Mometasone furoate (i.e. Elocon, Mometason) or betametasone valerate (i.e.Betnelan, betamethason) were prescribed. Calcineurin inhibitors were used for the face according to theSoC instead of steroids. Study participation did not affect SoC treatment. The study was conducted atthe Netherlands Institute for Pigment Disorders (NIPD), Department of Dermatology, AmsterdamUniversity Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Proteomic comparison of adipose tissue from obese insulin resistant subjects with obese insulin sensitive subjects

Project description:Tissues were collected during the Amsterdam (Netherlands) study of Carbohydrate Regulation of Lipid Metabolism ("SODA"). Subjects were divided between those with and without Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD); subjects were further divided by insulin resistance as assessed by hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp. Prior to bariatric surgery, subjects were given a glucose or fructose drink. Subcutaneous and omental adipose tissues were collected during bariatric surgery. Proteomic data was collected from both subcutaneous and omental adipose tissue; and from subjects given either carbohydrate drink (fructose or glucose).
