Amplification of the EMSY gene in sporadic breast and ovarian cancers is a poor prognostic indicator. Although EMSY has been linked to transcriptional silencing, its mechanism of action is unknown. Here, we report that EMSY acts as an oncogene, causing the transformation of cells in vitro and potentiating tumor formation and metastatic features in vivo. Project description:This study aims to stratify stage II and III colon cancer patients for risk of disease recurrence based on DNA aberrations, including DNA copy number aberrations (CNA) and CNA-associated chromosomal breakpoints. To this end, high quality array-CGH data of clinically well-annotated colon cancer specimens was generated using FFPE material from a selected series of primary tumor and patient-matched normal tissue.

Project description:Current methods for detection of copy number aberrations (CNA) from whole-exome sequencing (WES) data are based on the read counts of the captured exons only.
