The wheat DIVERSE MAGIC population and founders
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Exomes of 16 UK bread wheat varieties, and low-coverage whole-genome sequence of 550 recombinant inbred lines descended from the 16 varieties.
The wheat Diverse population is a set of over 500 recombinant inbred MAGIC (Multiparental Advanced Generation Intercross) lines of bread wheat, each descended from crosses between sixteen UK wheat varieties. The exomes of the 16 founders have been sequenced at high coverage and each MAGIC line sequenced at low coverage (0.35X). The founders are the varieties Banco, Bersee, Brigadier, Copain, Cordiale, Flamingo, Gladiator, Kloka, MarisFundin, Robigus, Slejpner, Soissons, Spark,Steadfast,Stetson, all of which were sequenced at about 30X by capture at 100k gene features and their promotors, and the variety Holdfast, which was whole-genome sequenced at about 10X. We provide Fastq files and VCFs for calls at 1.2M SNPs in the founders. We provide Fastq files and imputed SNP calls (VCFs) for the MAGIC population, using the STITCH algorithm for imputation.
