The Australian Mammographic Density Twins and Sisters Study - DNA methylation data

ABSTRACT: DNA methylation data for 479 women from 130 families including 66 monozygotic twin pairs, 66 dizygotic twin pairs and 215 sisters of twins. Overall design: Genomic DNA was extracted from dried blood spots. DNA was sodium bisulfite converted using the EZ DNA Methylation-Gold protocol. Epigenome-wide methylation was assessed using the Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChip arrays

INSTRUMENT(S): Illumina HumanMethylation450 BeadChip (HumanMethylation450_15017482)

ORGANISM(S): Homo Sapiens

The disease- and mortality-related difference between biological age based on DNA methylation and chronological age (Δage) has been found to have approximately 40% heritability by assuming that the familial correlation is only explained by additive genetic factors. We calculated two different Δage measures for 132 middle-aged female twin pairs (66 monozygotic and 66 dizygotic twin pairs) and their 215 sisters using DNA methylation data measured by the Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChip arrays  ...[more]
