Identification of differentially expressed circRNAs in OLF

ABSTRACT: Ossification of the ligamentum flava (OLF) is a common spinal disorder among the elderly that causes myelopathy and radiculopathy. Although studies have identified several genes that correlated with OLF, the underlying regulation network is far from clear. To identify transcriptional regulators for OLF, we compared the circRNAs expression of the ligamentum flava tissues from OLF patients and healthy volunteers through microarray analysis, which revealed a panel of circRNAs that were specifically regulated in ligament tissues of human undergoing ossification. Identification of differentially expressed circRNAs in ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament

Project description:Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament(OPLL) is a progressive abnormal calcification of the spinal ligament, which causes myelopathy and neurological symptoms. Both genetic and environmental factors play an important role in its occurrence and progress. In recent decades, many studies on OPLL have shown that it is a multifactorial disease. However, the role of circRNAs in the pathogenesis of OPLL is far from clear. In order to identify the transcriptional regulators of OPLL, we compared the expression of circRNAs in the posterior longitudinal ligament tissues from OPLL patients and healthy volunteers through microarray analysis. The analysis revealed a set of circRNAs specifically regulated in humans with heterotopic ossification of ligament tissue. These findings imply that circRNAs may play an important role in OPLL, which provides new ideas for the study of OPLL.

Differential expression profiles of circRNA in mice with traumatic heterotopic ossification

Project description:To investigate whether circRNAs could participate in the pathological osteogenesis of traumatic heterotopic ossification (HO). RNA sequencing was performed to analyze the circRNA expression profile in mice HO tissues and to investigate the relevant mechanisms. We found that 491 circRNAs were significantly differentially expressed in mouse HO tissues by a fold-change ≥2 and p-value ≤0.05. Among these, 168 circRNAs were upregulated, while 323 were downregulated.
