VEGF-mediated signaling is required and sufficient for the rejuvenation of aged human skin in vivo
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: While the rejuvenation of aged human organs remains one of the most ambitious goals in medicine, it is known that tissue aging can be modulated by circulating systemic factors. Previously, we had shown that transplantation of aged human skin onto immunocompromised mice results in epidermal rejuvenation. However, the underlying mechanisms remained unknown. Therefore, to disclose such mechanisms, aged human skin xenotransplants were analyzed transplated in SCID/Beige young mice and analyzed by RNA-Seq in pre-transplanted, one, two and four weeks after transplantation.
