Expression Project for Oncology (expO)

ABSTRACT: The mission of expO is to build on the technologies and outcomes of the Human Genome Project to accelerate improved clinical management of cancer patients. IGC's Expression Project for Oncology (expO) seeks to integrate longitudinal clinical annotation with gene expression data for a unique and powerful portrait of human malignancies, providing critical perspective on diagnostic markers, prognostic indicators, and therapeutic targets. The goal of expO and its consortium supporters is to procure tissue samples under standard conditions and perform gene expression analyses on a clinically annotated set of deidentified tumor samples. The tumor data is updated with clinical outcomes and is released into the public domain without intellectual property restriction. Encyclopedia of C. elegans 3' UTRs and their regulatory elements

Project description:The 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) constitutes a major site of post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Sequence elements in the 3'UTR interact with trans-acting regulators such as microRNAs that affect translation and stability. The overall aim is to use a 3'RACE cloning-sequencing stragety to identify the 3'UTRs of C. elegans transcripts and explore their heterogeneity in different developmental stages and tissues. Genome-wide empirical binding sites co-occupied by p53 and NF-kB in human cardiomyopathy

Project description:p53 and NF-kB are important transcription factors involved in the pathogenesis of cardiac hypertrophy and the progression to heart failure/dilatation. We report the genome-wide empirical binding sites co-occupied by the transcription factors in human dilated hearts. p53-NF-kB sequential chromatin immunoprecipitation and high-throughput sequencing were performed using tissues from control and diseased hearts. These data may facilitate the discovery of mechanisms by which transcription factors cooperate in close proximity or a multi-molecular complex at a cis-regulatory element to control gene expression.
