The molecular mechanism of microtubule-binding protein CEP20 in regulating invasion and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer

ABSTRACT: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death and poses a direct health threat in our country. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) represents the majority of lung cancer. Difficulty in early diagnosis and metastasis are the major cause of death of NSCLC patients. However, the molecular mechanism of NSCLC cell invasion and metastasis still remain unclear. So looking for new diagnosis methods and explore the key genes of metastasis are still priority in the field of NSCLC research. The microtubule and microtubule associated proteins have closely relationship with the development of cancer. According to the bioinformatics by using the public database and clinical NSCLC tumor samples, our accumulated evidences indicate that the expression of CEP20 is higher in NSCLC tissues. Patients with high CEP20 expression level associate with cancer invasion, metastasis and show low five-year survival rate. Based on these new findings, this project aims to study the regulation of CEP20 in microtubule dynamics in cell migration, and discover the molecular mechanism of FOR20 in regulating NSCLC cell invasion and metastasis.
